Cool, Green and the best Coffee in the world
Hello, I'm a Peruvian American, living in USA married to a Panamenian from David Chiriqui. I know that he would love to go back to his "tierra" and retire there. The only concenrn that I have is that I have a 5th grader adn if I go to Boquete I need a English speaking school for my son or at least a great bilingual school, I think being in a spanish speaking country will help him with a second language and of course to appreciate and enjoy the simple living of latin america. If any of you have some info about the weather, schools, how big the "gringo" community is, etc. I'm really into the moving adventure if I find a school for my son.
Thank you
AnaMaria.

They have young teenage son who is bright, bold and seems to be doing well in school here. I was very impressed with him. Check out Elizabeth's blog for a bit more about her and her family's move to Boquete.
I have also met other expat children who seem to be doing very well here, but only the parents can give you first hand feedback on this subject. I hope some of them respond to you.
Permalink Reply by Penny Barrett on September 10, 2012 at 2:24pm Google Academia International Boquete -- an excellent bi-lingual school in Boquete.
There are also about 4 other private schools which vary in how much English they use in the curriculum.
There are supposedly some bi-lingual schools in David but, again, it's not clear to me how really bi-lingual they are.

Permalink Reply by Iliana "Lily" on September 12, 2012 at 4:51pm The AIB (Academia Internacional de Boquete) will be moving into its new location just outside Boquete (between Dolega and Los Molinos) in 2014. My daughter attends Pre-K and they have a big expat presence. Teachers are kept up to date and I understand that next year they will be introducing ebooks into classrooms so they are leaning towards miniPC instead of iPads for the kids to use for their textbooks. You can follow them on FB and keep up to date with the progress. Cost is also very reasonable.

Permalink Reply by Iliana "Lily" on September 12, 2012 at 4:54pm You can email me ickr18@yahoo.com for more info. The school will be located about 15 min outside Bajo Boquete but just about 5 min from Los Molinos, Emerald Drive so it just depends where you decide to move to.
