There used to be a church group that offered help to people who might need someone to translate for visits to a doctor or public agency, or whatever was needed. Their phone number was permanently in the old ning sidebar on the right. I don't see it there any more. Does anybody have that phone number?

Hi Judy:
I have written to JLM and asked why our notice was removed. I explained that we charged no fees, discussed no religion and were simply a group of English and Spanish speaking people who were there to serve as a resource for our fellow English speaking community members whether it be rides to a hospital, translation, help with shopping if one became homebound etc.
The answer I received was to speak with the Administrator (from whom I have yet to hear). I suspect that, since we are affiliated with a Church, that JLM is suspect of us.
The Stephen Ministers are still here and willing to help. Our number is 6886-6818. Cathy usually answers the phone and we then ask an appropriate member of the group to help.
Lee used to tell me that our notice would be a permanent part of Ning since he liked the idea of what we did so much. I guess that is not shared.
Thanks Steve and Cathy for the service you provide. I hope your sidebar notice is re-instated.
Hi Judy:
We were informed this morning that it was a formatting error and the notice will be re-posted in a box on the right of the page.
Maybe it is your computer, it is there in a nice purple box now and looks larger than previously from what I remember. How does your service work?
It's back. I never saw it before. I would have noticed a purple box when I looked at the sidebar. Thanks to whoever restored it.
Hi Rose Ann
We are simply a group of North Americans who offer our services free of charge to those in need. We try to help those who can not get help on their own. While we are members of San Juan Bautista, there is no church outreach involved nor is there any evangelism. We are simply here to help. We love this country in which we are guests and seek to make it even more pleasant for our compatriots who have " adopted" Panama for whatever length of time. We also help newcomers in understanding the Panamanian culture and mores.
