Americans: Pay Your Taxes--Or Lose Your Passport
U.S. government will be able to deny new passports or revoke ones held by people with serious tax debts
Congress is poised to enact a law denying or revoking passports for U.S. citizens who haven’t paid their taxes.
Under a new law expected to take effect in January, the State Department will block Americans with “seriously delinquent” tax debt from receiving new passports and will be allowed to rescind existing passports of people who fall into that category. The list of affected taxpayers will be compiled by the Internal Revenue Service using a threshold of $50,000 of unpaid federal taxes, including penalties and interest, which would be adjusted for inflation.
If you are an expat living in Panama and need to leave Panama with a U.S. Passport, will they be able to deny you to leave or issue you a renewal. Answer sure seems "YES". It Seems to have reaching powers right into FATCA as well.

#1 This has nothing to do with my political affiliation.
#2 I had no real idea about what an extremist was - right/left wing was until I moved here - dang shame on me. Yeah heard about those who fled the US becauseof Bush, and now It'sall about Obama???
LOL I love the ignorance of this and how much I have learned to make me a better person!
Marie, the truth is, most society's are slowing being enslaved to death by a household of taxes, we cannot keep up with, think of car rentals, airline tickets, etc. a new translation for tax is "Fee" still 3 letter, same outcome. A friend recently purchased an airline ticket for $76.00 its fare, the associated fees (taxes) were almost $82.00 additionally.
Kelvin, no, you can live anywhere and be on this site. Even in Lawrence, KS which is what it says on your profile.
The only person I know that spells his name this way is a black man that I think is very sweet. He had lunch in my home with my daughter and I when he was here to work on some equipment in our home.
Please don't be upset with the turn this thread took. I don't believe anyone meant anything negative by it.
I didn't start it. I just couldn't let it slide. I'm getting the feeling that Joanne's apparent defense of the remark about Sharpton may be revealing. A better reaction might have been- why not single out Pete Rose, Willie Nelson, or Leona Helmsley.
Kelvin, These tax cheats you listed weren't appointed by the president of the United States to a white house position nor did they serve in congress for decades. Government officials should set an example and not be serious tax cheats to the tune of millions of dollars.
Since there has been only one black president, I think your lame defense of singling out Sharpton will soon be put into perspective.
I still haven't figured out how Obama and Rangel got thrown into the discussion- other than they are also black.
Guys, please stay on topic or create a new one. Kelvin, you can live anywhere to be on the forum.
