Also thanks Lee. Gated communities are not very common in Australia, and from what I have heard the fees can be quite high.
We are interested in integrating into the community, not locking ourselves away, otherwise there would be little point in moving halfway across the world. :)
It is always good to read forums like this instead of just the rosy information that is painted on certain websites.
Will be keeping an open mind when we visit the area and in the mean time will continue to practice our Spanish.

We have been in Bouquet for two months and we have met several Panamanians and they are so easy going and pleasant. I study espanol every day and have a tutor twice a week. I have been studying for three months and can understand quite a lot. Very difficult to respond on the fly but have five neighbors that only speak espanol. That helps a lot. It is a beautiful place and the life sttyle is layed back and the weather is great!
Thanks Mary - Can hear what you are saying. It is easy enough to try and speak Spanish but understanding what other people are saying back to me is a real challenge sometimes. As long as I have the basic stuff such as telling them I don't speak much Spanish, hopefully people will tolerate me until I have a better grasp of the language.

Thanks Bjorn - I understood the gist of that so maybe I am not so rusty after all.
Not many people to try out my Spanish on in this neck of the woods, so my dogs tend to look at me strangely when I practice/practise on them.
I get to practice little at night ,when my cleaning crew comes by....they are Mexican....and I work late so, when she empties trash cans I try to get some words in... but they claim swedes have easier with the spanish rs than English speakers,........of course I get to practice Ozzie English too, one of my best friends here, Max, is from Melbourne
OK, newbie lesson #1 it is "Boquete" pronounced bo-KET-eh. Has nothing to do with flowers. In Brazil it means something entirely different. Maybe your spanish instructor knows, or google it. Also ask the instructor about the meaning of "juega vivo" and the significance of it here in Panama.
