WARNING: Home invasion today in Brisas

Just a few minutes after 5, this afternoon, AAC received  a call from a neighbor asking for help in Brisas.
He was getting home with her wife when 3 men got inside their property through the gate before it shut, and aimed a gun at his face. They tied them down,  beat him on the face to the point that his nose was broken. And after that locked his wife in a room. They took 500 dollars, tv, lap tops and their 2013 Hyundai Tucson Silver colored.
The wife is Panamanian and they told him to do not call the police or they will come back and kill them. The robbers took all their cell phones and cut their land line phone. It was after almost 2 hours that the victims were able to release them selves and ask for help.
The police went to the place . AAC is in touch with the police in David who have  the license car number to try to locate it as soon as possible.
I will pst more when we have the information. Please be aware of your surroundings

  • La Exitosa is reporting that last night, hooded suspects with one toy gun and one real gun held up the Delta station in Dolega. Someone was hurt when swatted with the gun. Sound familiar? There is a good likelihood these are the same punks, in my opinion.

    • Thanks for sharing, Keith

Scary,, they need to catch these thugs.  I have a feeling they are from Dolega, but could be from David.

Also interesting is they are now wearing hoods, not helpful in catching them, they are getting smarter. That is why I recommend the GSM Alarm and Siren first.

Bottom line is they are not stopping and we all need to be on guard.

Have your cell phones charged and alarm systems on. Someone was walking around our neighborhood at 2 am a few nights back (with out a dog) and I did not sleep the rest of the night and had my alarm remote in my hand.

I hope they catch them soon...

  • We live in Oriana and have made a habit if we see strange people walking (we know who the regulars are) or slow moving cars...we get our camera and take a photo of people and cars. We try to get the license numbers on the cars, if possible. The suspicious take off real fast. Have a camera ready at all times!!!

    • We do that too.  Especially if someone walking along is whistling.  They usually whistle to see who has dogs!  We had that happen this morning.  We have cameras and alarms now because we had a lot of little things come up missing as our front yard is not fenced.  When they took $100 worth of black rubber water hose I said "that's it" we're installing some security.  We have dogs, but they are inside at night.  Having had a dog poisoned that had inside/outside access at night we no longer allow our dogs to stay out at night or go out without us.

  • The one possible item that may have helped the couple is the key chain remote panic button attached to the car keys that would have activated their GSM alarm (if they had one), thus blasting a 130 dcb Flashing Siren that would have started calling 5 -6 neighbors within 1-2 seconds. A neighbor could have then used the built in intercom system (that comes with the alarm) to hear what was going on inside the home without having to leave their locked home.  We also recommend a community siren in case this situation occurs as if it would have gone off, all community neighbors could have locked their doors and activated our security protocol.

Cameras through out the neighborhood would be a huge advantage, we will be willing to show everyone our design for a large community we are installing cameras for now, pictures on our page and below.

A GPS tracking device installed in the car would have been able to find the car as soon as it left the driveway.

Again we recommend security and medical drills as part of the neighborhood watch program. Preparation is important!

It is also prudent to drive with the doors locked and unlock them with the alarms key chain remote in hand. It is something I always do when I drive alone at night arriving home.

Update: the police do have pictures of the men retracted from the DVR at our clients home.

    • In 98% of the cases a siren will scare away the thugs as soon as it goes off.

      • I guess the remaining 2% are deaf?

        • Thanks for giving me a good laugh, the 2% is where there are weapons, cash and drugs in the home usually in a high crime area.

Although break-and-enters seem random in occurrence, they actually involve a selection process. The burglar’s selection process is simple. Choose a home with the easiest access and the greatest amount of cover. If there are alarm decals on your windows, the robber will hope that the alarm stickers are fake or that the alarm is not turned on. The second the siren goes off, the intruder typically takes off immediately. Without it, an intruder wouldn’t know that his/her presence was known, and might continue breaking in.

There are clients who will only activate their alarm system when they are not at home. They know that most home burglaries occur during the day when most people are at work or in school. However, we hear about home invasions taking place mainly at dusk or at night. Would you not want to be warned by your siren that an intruder is trying to get in?

This brings us back to the fundamentals of security. The best use of a security system is to minimize the risk of an intrusion, to warn of a fire or other emergency. Sirens are very effective tools in deterring intruders and if they sound off the criminal leaves. During emergencies, sirens are absolutely critical in the security system.

          • Good points.  Yes, all joking aside, it's the 2% that I'm concerned about, the psychopaths who possess no fear, how do we protect ourselves from them?  What scares them off?

            • Hopefully none of us have to deal with the fearless psychopaths. Though if they continue to enter with a 130 dcb siren flashing, then your alarm unit should have an auto dial feature built in to your alarm that is calling your neighbors or caretaker.

              1. The neighbors then call your unit and use the built in cell phone for 2 way intercom communication built in to the system. Then the neighbor listens for signs of trouble or even a medical emergency they go to step 2.

              2. If they get no answer or hear a struggle or strange voices..  access the inside cameras (if you have them). See if there is a problem and listen. Important do not go to the persons house until you are aware there is no one there.

              3.  From inside your locked home, Call AAC and the police, activate the community siren and activate the training you have been practicing including: all lights on, activate all car alarms, lock all doors, stay away from windows, bring in your dogs, go to the safe or inside room. Have your wasp or pepper spray ready and cover your mouth and eyes if you do have to spray it. Smart phones have apps that you can speak in English but come out Spanish.

              4. This is why I stress neighborhood drills in areas that have had recent crime. Oh and try to stay calm, if you practice this it is very easy and matter of fact procedure. I am not going to talk about guns, but if you have one know how to use it and know the risks involved.
