Water purification

I read somewhere in this site that people were using UV for water purification. Where does one get a UV system there? I am unfamiliar with this process, can anyone tell me about it? Thanks!

Go to Grupo Aguas de Chiriqui. It is on the road from Boquete to David, on the left as you head to David. There are several water tanks in the front. They will install a UV treatment device and anything else you want pertaining to water. You have to change the UV bulb once a year, and it is $80 to $100.

The best water system out there right now is a system that takes the water from the air, like a dehumidifier, and distills it into drinking water. Gives you about 12 gallons of good distilled drinking water per day. Some people have a problem with distillation but it's clean and very drinkable..........I'm looking at bringing a system in to Boquete, sometime in January to see what people think of it. Hang it on your wall, inside or outside. It's a very "green" answer to water collection. JT

Is this a system that I could purchase in the states and bring with me? Also what is the cost for the system?

I don't think it is sold in the US as yet. It was invented in Kelowna BC Canada and it could be shipped to Boquete, but it's a $1000 system and then money to ship it, and water is so cheap in Panama, it would take a long time to pay for itself, but in places where there are no pipes and water supply, it's great because it takes water from the air and purifies it. Im a water 'purest' done a lot of research on water, and In my opinion "Distilled" drinking water is by far the Best water in the world that you can put into your body. Distillation which is the desalinization of sea-water, and the process used on all ships to produce drinking water is without-a-doubt the best tasting and healthiest water in the world. I have a Kenmore (made by Sears) Delux Water Distiller at home that I use to prepare all of my drinking water, cost $300 plus.

Blogger Jim Thomson has the Best idea with the dehumidifier-distiller that converts the humidity in the air into drinking water. I would like to know more about this system which would be ideal for Panama. With the unit that I have, it takes approx (3) hrs to process 1gal of drinking water, a slooooow process but good results.

All said and done, my advice would be to stay away from all this UltraViolet, Infrared, Microwave, Carbon-Filter Crapola filtration systems and go with what has been proven to provide you with the best!

It's me again, check out this Air2Water purification system. The distributor for Panama is located in Arizona. Looks like a great product if it's not too expensive.

I should have checked before I sent you the Air2Water link, Although this company has a prototype dehumidifier water system on the drawing board, apparently only one system is now available which is a UV Carbon Filter type technology purifier, which I would not recommend. Sorry!

Water-Update:

I've just researched the "Water Mill" for a $1000 bucks, and its the same UV Carbon-Filter process technology. For me the on the counter Water Distiller is my choice. Its economical, and will transform nasty tap water into good pure drinking water. Google "Water Distillers" and you will find whats available.
