We have not gotten any water since Thursday. Some neighbors say that this is a common occurrence during the Feria, and that major sections of the Volcancito side of the hill will be out another week. Someone else said that everyone in "lower Volcancito" is out of water due to a major water problem in the City or possibly due to the outage in December. Does anyone have any facts on this or has heard any news? I can't find out anything.
Thanks.

HI JOYCE: I'VE LIVED IN BARRIADA SANTA LUCIA SINCE JULY, 1999. THERE HAS ALWAYS BEEN A WATER SHORTAGE PROBLEM HERE. I HAVE A 800 GAL. RESERVE TANK WITH FOUR FILTERS IN FRONT OF IT WHICH NEED TO BE CLEANED WEEKLY. I HAVE ALWAYS BOILED MY DRINKING WATER AFTER GETTING SICK ONE TIME AND HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTERED ANY SICKNESS SINCE. SANTA LUCIA IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO LIVE WITH A GREAT VIEW OF THE VOLCAN AND SURROUNDING MOUNTAINS. IT ALSO HAS A COUNTRY CLUB WITH AN OLYMPIC SIZE SWIMMING POOL, BEAUTIFUL CLUB-HOUSE, TENNIS COURTS AND IS JUST A FEW MINUTES FROM DOWNTOWN BOQUETE. I BELIEVE THAT THE MUNICIPALITY IS WORKING ON INSTALLING A NEW WATER SYSTEM WHICH SHOULD SOLVE THE WATER PROBLEM. TIME WILL TELL.

We've researched this particular issue a lot, and it seems to be related to the low pressure in several parts of town (probably related to water going to the Feria) and a neighbor with a valve. We're going to be taking care of the valve issue in a couple of days with some new pipes. I don't think this is due to Santa Lucia or the new water system.
We've been without water since Thursday, but do have 1500 gallons, so we should be okay until we can get the piping issue taken care of.
I live in Volcancito down the road from the school and have not had any water outages. Do you live in Santa Lucia? They have their own water source and are notorious for often being out of water. That was supposed to be fixed when they did all that digging and laid new pipe on the main Santa Lucia road. But like everything else, that project probably has not been finished.
We live in Santa Lucia, but we've been told that people down in "lower Volcancito" are also out. Not sure what is happening. Thanks
We lived in Santa Lucia for 1.1/2 years, Calle C. Many times without water coming in. We had 1,000 gallons of water tanks. The water is full of black mud. We had to clean the filters every 10 days. Don not drink it, even not after boiling. We live now in cozy Jardines de Boquete. 6,000 gallon water tank for the community. You can drink if from the tap.
We have a Berkey and never put water from the tap into our mouths--excellent advice. We haven't had a shortage of water in the past 2 years until this week and think we have figured out the cause.
