Unfortunately I just don't have time to make the necessary changes before my stamp expires with flight changes and finding a place to live back in Canada etc. I was denied an extension so I am wondering where do I pay for an overstay? at the airport? or can it be paid in advance anyone know what kind of time delays is involved? Any knowledge or advice is appreciated. I was told it excludes me from return for one year which is fine gives me time to investigate other living options maybe a country that doesn't have laws saying one thing and decrees that routinely allow the exact opposite just to rescind the decree without notice. I am aware of the ways this could have been avoided no need to offer opinions what could have should have or would have been done please. I am just looking for info on what to expect when I go to leave.

So whats the next move then Steven? Blast straight up to Nicaragua and kill some time up there? Why is C.R. only giving people coming from Panama 5 days? Is it just an opportunity to f$% with gringos one more time? Seems like they are just reveling in the opportunity to make life even harder on those caught by this surprize attack........Despicaple really, and indicative of the mentality that rules the place.......This is theoretically because of the Venez problem but the Panamanistas have a history of pulling this kind of chit.............When I do leave I will only be coming back to check on things from time to time..........I see the writing on the wall.......time to find a whole new package.........
Lol just a little humour my friend sent me this photo as an answer what to expect when I go to fly out
I have decided to exit before I expire and I have booked a flight from costa rica ... I just hope I have no issues getting a 2 week stay in CR by their immigration
Let us know how that worked out for you and how many days did Costa Rica give you to your passport. Try to ask them if they changed their policy as well or all is as it was with entering Costa Rica. Good luck.
I crossed on my 180th day and wasn't a problem I was given 30 days in CR after showing a flight for the end of the month leaving san jose
Yes they fingerprint entering the country. However if you are arriving at Tocumen from a connecting flight outside of Panama and are flying onward you go to the gate, You do not go through immigration.
Good points glen I will give them consideration as well any options are appreciated
Well I could not get a seat on a flight before the 16th I am that much closer to overstaying but I am still weighing my other options
Some options are dependent on whether your return ticket is from David or Panama City and if you have check in luggage, If from Panama City with no check in luggage book a round trip flight to Colombia and return to Panama to meet your flight home. You will not have to go through Panama immigration just proceed to your gate. There are many flights on Copa and Avianca.
I have to return to Canada with everything I own I was trying to change my flight that is already booked, if I have to book a new flight I would probably just book from san jose it is cheaper than booking from panama
