Will the USA loose some of its biggest retailers?

I recently came across this article where Macy's will close 35-40 stores, and read in the 2016 forecast that retailers such as JCPenney, KMart and Sears will continue to close stores or disappear altogether, one has to wonder, where is the USA Retail market leading to?

I am far from being a financial expert but it seems to be as if internet shopping, foreign retail outlets and WalMart are going to be our primary options for future shopping, unless of course, we go for the high end retailers.

Please educate me on this matter, as some of you I know are true finance experts

I might be wrong but I recall something about Martha Stewart buying some part of that right around the rime she came out of jail. Again I could be mixing facts.
I know those two outlets were tge main sellers of her products. It is still a weird combo I must agree

  Now Martha- she would have made a fine white poster child for tax evasion-or/and insider trading. She even went to prison- unlike Sharpton.

I never could figure out who had the bright idea for two losers- Kmart and Sears- to merge. Like miraculously combining two losers would somehow make one winner. I'm still scratching my head about that merger.

I can agree about the convenience of the internet but I reiterate, I prefer live action and grew up going to Zayre Kmart Sears etc

  The good news is that those that want the touchy feeling type of shopping can do so and those that want the ease of shopping from their computer chair can do so. What a wonderful world! lol

Totally disagree Walter, the current consumer economy is improving, it is the industrial economy that is dropping because the rising dollar is hurting exports and China is questionable.

Olga, you asked if big chains in the US are going to disappear and the response mostly replied about the Internet. Olga, they all use the Internet. The big change is that one company dominates everyone else in technology, infrastructure, buying power, automation and innovation. If you want to know the reality look up Amazon and read about where they are headed. Will they destroy all the big chains? No, but the others are adapting as fast as they can and they are way behind.

It's correct. Big sizes are not offen available, are very unattractive and usually priced way higher than a fair price for the quality. Still clothing and shoes is something I like to buy in person. All other items such as electronics and kitchen small appliances and tools are better bought in Panama

  Yes but I try to go to reputable stores where they offer so.e kind of warranty. Panafoto and Conway are my go-to for items as such. A bit pricier Yes, but factor in shipping costs and time and it really works out to be almost the same
