We’re almost there!
The 2013 Boquete Jazz&Blues Festival is just a couple of days away!

Day 1: Thursday Feb 28
It’s gonna be a very busy day indeed, a day filled with loads of fun, laughter, and dancing to great music all day!

2pm -3pm: Boquete goes New Orleans! Come join us for the craziest, most colorful parade this town has ever seen! Dress up, dress down, wear whatever you want (but wear something!), paint your face and dance in the streets of Boquete! The parade will start at the BCP parking lot and will end at the Panamonte hotel.

3pm – 5pm: The parade will dance on in the garden of the Panamonte Inn with live music of the Rigoberto Coba quartet, hurricanes, and New Orleans style food. Admission $5 at the door.

7pm – 9pm: The show goes on! Come to the bar of the Panamonte Inn to get a free shot of the exquisite Panamonte XXV Reserva Preciosa, meet the Panama Red girl and the makers of this extraordinary rum. Shake hands with Hilary Hemingway (niece of Ernest) and Jeff Lindsay, author of the Dexter series. Dance to live music by Boquete’s own Fantazy Jazzband. Admission $5 at the door.

9pm - ??? The days’ not done yet! The Blues is in the house at Mike’s Global Grill! Ron Hacker&The Hacksaws, the Bay area’s hottest Blues band are going to bring the house down at Mike&Heidi’s place with the first jam session of the festival. You’ll never know who else will be joining the jam... A MUST for all hard-core bluesers! Admission $8 a the door.

All admissions will help to finance the events and the festival!

Too much fun? You can sleep when you’re dead!

Hey Boquete and beyond, WAKE UP!

There’s a great wine-tasting dance party coming your way on Saturday, Feb 23 – but  you bought  very few ticket so far!

If that doesn’t change dramatically until this coming Thursday, WE’RE GOING TO CANCEL IT!!!

(No sweat, you’ll get your money back if you are among the DARING few who have already bought their ticket!)

In case you haven’t noticed there’s another great Jazz&Blues Festival coming your way in just 9 days from now – and ticket sales are far from what they need to be. The same  applies to merchandise sales.

At the time of writing we’re still facing a deficit of up to 8 grand!

If that won’t change dramatically in the remaining days this will definitely be the last ever Jazz & Blues Festival in Boquete!!!

The organizers have been working their asses off to make this festival happen, and they’re not getting paid for anything!

NOW IT’S YOUR TURN TO ACCEPT THIS GIFT TO THE BOQUETE COMMUNITY AND SUPPORT IT WITH BUYING A TICKET, BUY THE MERCHANDISE OR SIMPLY DONATE!!!

C’mon Boquete, get out of the woods.  Stop napping, get down from the mountains AND GO BUY YOUR TICKETS PRONTO, DAMN IT!

Wine tasting and Jazz&Blues Festival tickets are available at Mailboxes ETC. in Boquete and at the Tuesday marlket. Festival tickets also at Mailboxes ETC in David.

Call 6519-7876 for tickets to be held on will call.

Here's another wonderful memory of the great 2012 Boquete Jazz&Blues Festival:

One of the outstanding “International” events during this year’s Boquete Jazz & Blues Festival was the Jam Session held at Amigos on the Saturday night, March 3
rd. In all, about 25 different musicians showed up from all the groups and they made for some of the most entertaining performances of the entire weekend. All the tunes were spontaneous and unrehearsed, with various artists (and instruments!) coming and going over several exciting hours.
Here is a noteworthy performance of Herbie Hancock’s iconic Cantaloupe Island by eight musicians representing Panama, USA, Canada, Netherlands and Kenya. The horn playing is remarkable (Carlos Ubarte, Jon Day, Saskia Laroo), followed by an electrifying keyboard solo (Warren Byrd), great guitar breakouts (Edgar Vargas, Maarten Bakker) and some inspired drumming (Willem Smid, Amadou Seck).

To view click on this YouTube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqOBeSDl-Bg&feature=em-share_vi...

If you like this, look for the 4 DVD set of the entire 2012 Festival, available later next month for only $20. All proceeds will go towards next year’s BJBF.
