Melisa, it sounds like it's time to visit a veterinarian. What is the climate like there? Could be allergies. Let me know what they say.

Read my blog. (panamalady.com)..my dog is spending more time with the neighbor than at home. I am sure it is because we are out a lot and my partner isn't really into dogs and I am sure she senses it. I agree with what you advised to one reader about the attitude of the female dog around males....it seems quite the case for my dog Razz too.

PS - Kris is the best at training and caring for dogs - If anyone needs someone to board and/or train their dog, with love and positive reinforcement, it is Kris Berg! NO one does it better! Carol Linville

I have known Kris Berg for over 10 years and she is one of the best in dog training and care of anyone I have known - she is also one of the most dedicated people I know to animal welfare, care, and working to make a diff for animals in our world. As the Pres and Founder of Pet Helpers, Chas SC for over 31 years, I have worked with many in the animal field. My shelter is dedicated to saving sheltering educating and spay and nueter. As a no kill shelter, we work with many in the animal field. Kris is giving and missioned and no one does it better than she does! Miss her here in SC!! Carol Linville

Thanks so much for the advice. I will have him give it a try. I will post back in a couple of days with the results. It makes sense though.:)

Jennifer, it is common for some dogs to be a bit intimidated with males. Is your husband on the strong side? Dogs watch the way you move, the tone of your voice and the expression on your face. As difficult as it may be for him, I would have him try to "soften up" around her a bit. If she is a sensitive female, like some of us are, even though she loves him she is submitting to him like a dog might do to a dog. Don't have him make a lot of eye contact with her until she is comfortable with him. I used to work animal services and whenever I would approach a timid dog, (that doesnt' mean she's weak, just sensitive) I would always approach with my body sideway instead of straight at them. Do you understand? Have him bend down so he is not towering over her. Have him always have a nice soft treat in his hand for her. Make him a "safe" person for her to be around and not loud or aggressive. I would also recommend no rough housing from anyone-always teaching her that teeth on skin of any kind is off limits. Try what I am suggesting for a few days and let me know how you are doing.

Please HELP! I have a 5 month old dobie. Here lately every time my husband tries to take her out to potty she will pee when he gets close to her. She loves my husband and he has never been mean to her. He will get the leash and say "let's go out", if she doesn't come, he will walk towards her and she will squat right there and just let the pee fly. Why is she doing this?

Kris has been my friend for 13+ years. She has also trained my dogs during this time. Kris has done an amazing job with my dogs as well as the other dogs I have watched her train. I am now in the process of training my new puppy on my own (since I live in the states) and have every confidence that I will succeed because of Kris' direction. I also never hesitate to contact her with questions and to get suggestions. I trust Kris with the life of my dogs. She has talked me through difficult times ranging from hesitation regarding medical procedures to the passing of my beloved bulldog. I love and miss you Kris! You are the best!!

I wish Kris the greatest of success with her dog training and boarding business in Boquete. I have known her for over 17 years and have trained dogs with her. She is fantastic with behavior problems and difficult dogs. You can rest assured that if you leave your dog with Kris that it will receive the best of care.
