I currently live in south Florida but we are planning to move to Boquete within the next year, restrictions permitting. I was vice president of our local orchid club and am looking forward to being a member of the orchid club in Boquete. Would appreciate any and all advice on what orchids do best in Boquete. Hope to meet y'all soon!
I've been absolutely fascinated with all the many varieties of orchids, but always stayed away from them living in northern countries. We've been here for a little over 2 years, and I've been collecting various orchids I've been able to find.
One I would absolutely love to have is the Flor del Espiritu Santo, but I've heard its actually against the law to own. Can anyone tell me if thats true?
Hi, all: I'm just getting started here with my gardening since arriving in Boquete 8 mos. ago I have a small hanger with holes in it which may be a healthy environment for growing smaller, trailing orchids. I had some success in S. Florida growing 4 different varieties, but I am strictly an amateur. I'd like that to change now that I have the opportunity and climate to devote more time. I have read the blog here, as well as done some preliminary research on the web. Attached is a photo of my proposed first experimental planter. Forgive the bad lighting, please! :-) It appears to be bamboo with small drill holes which allow for air, which is what made me think of orchids. Any suggestions are deeply appreciated, and thank you.IMG_0015.JPG
I love orchids. I live in the cold country of the Pacific Northwest right now. I grow orchids in my sun room. ( in the background of the yellow one, you can see snow still on the ground (02/13) I have several different ones, but can't figure out how to easily add the pictures, so I just sent two.

Thank you, i'll try and find someone to trek up there with me. I have an x-trail 4X4 that should be ok.
Would love to discover good trails. Is the Quetzal trail the name of the trail and how do you get there.
Thanks
