we have a 1.5 years old 7# yorkie/teddy bear mix named buddy, we have raised him since he was 6 weeks old.  also a 7 month old 16# adopted street dog.... named lolo, we have raised him since he was 6 weeks old. occasionally we would like to spend a night or two away from home/pets.  anyone willing to have them @ your house for those times?  they are both housebroken.  sleep indoors but not in the bedroom.  do jump up on the chairs & sofas.  they are both quite fun, loving, good listeners, well behaved.  will bark at someone or something passing by the house.  lolo is still in training but both know commands:  come, sit, stay, etc.  buddy better than lolo because he is older.  must be a fenced/gated home.

Andrea, I just saw the envelope looking link above the members logos that allows you to send the message to all members of the group. I think that should do it.

BJ, I'm not sure how the groups are set up, but if there is anyway a notification can be sent out to the members when a new discussion has been added?  I may check here once a week, but it may be too late for someone who could have used my help.

I Will be needing for someone to check on my 15 year old cat every day or so during September. I have a friend staying here in the house and feeding Spikey, but I do not think she knows much about caring for cats and I need someone who can check on Spikey and hopefully give him his "senior" pills every few days. Also if he needed to go to the vet, I would need someone to take him. I would be happy to take care of your pets if you can help me out. I worked with the Gulfport MS Humane Society and can handle many medical conditions that are ongoing. I can even administer fluids and give diabetic. Shots to pets. Please contact me at bjall@aol.com

I hope this group will facilitate the sharing of loving care of our beloved pets while we are out of town or in the US for short trips. I know many different situations exist and some pets need specialized care and attention, so we should try and find someone who can handle this level of care while we are gone. For these reasons, I think it is a good idea to put in your post whether you feel more comfortable caring for cats or dogs or both, and if you can provide any special care, like medications or specialized wound care, etc. This is not meant to be a medical group, but some pets have ongoing medical needs. Also please do not post the days that you will be gone or exactly where you live on the board. This should be discussed privately by email. Remember, you are entrusting your house keys to someone, so I think all members should be approved so we are not just handing out our keys to just anyone. I do not think this will be a problem since I think a lot of us already know each other and no one will be disapproved probably. I hope this helps us all to feel that our beloved pets are well cared for in our absence.
