Woiw!  Just saw some OA flaps from a lodge in the Zone.  Must have been quite an adventure to be a Scout there.  In Los Angeles in the 70s, I was scoutmaster of a Spanish speaking troop.  The guys were mainly from Mexico and El Salvador, but over the years we had fellows from all over Central America as well as Colombia and Ecuador.  We used lots of Mexican traditions in the troop, including: patrol yells, names and flags; commands by whistle, hand signs for formations, etc.  I had two Mexican assistant scoutmaster (one a prior cubmaster, one with no prior Scouting experience but lots of climbing in his background; a crazy American who I always tried to keep away from the Scouts, and; sometimes two Guatemalan Scouters.  The troop committee chairman was former president of the socialist students of Guatemala.  Wonderful organizer, of course.  LOL  The Scouts came from very poor families, but they had so much Scouting spirit that they were wealthier than they knew.   So many times they showed me how to be a better man.  We were brothers.  I just happened to be bald.  LOL 

Do me a big, big favor and ask around for a good immigration attorney.  I know that "good" and "attorney" are seldom used in the same breath, but...ask anyway.   LOL  I was a deputy probation officer for 30 years.  I dare not get started on lawyers!   LOL

Packing my stuff, just found a self-storage unit quite near me, and I hope to make the initial move to Panama around September, clearing out the storage unit and making the final move when the visa comes through.

Sure like Boquete.  I saw it for the first time around 4 years ago.  My son and I were there in early June.  To my delight, he also fell in love with the area.  When I told him I wanted to move to Panama after his return to the USA, he thought his dad has lost it.  Well, seeing is believing and he thinks it is a fine idea now.  My last ten years in the USA were spent in a small mountain community just north of the city of San Bernardino, California.  It is similar to Boquete in many ways (rainfall, size, distance from a city, tourist destination, etc.), but it snowed.  And then it would snow some more.  

In Boquete I'd like to get back into a service club, such as the Rotary.  Boquete has quite a few ways to get active in the community.  I'd even like to start two clubs:  one for cribbage players and one for ukulele players.  There has to be some ukes in Boquete.  In California we were playing at luncheons, dinners, etc.  We refused to let our lack of talent silence us.   LOL

We'll be crossing trails one of these days.  Start carrying your "sierra cup", and I'll see you at the cracker barrel..

I was surprised to find your photos of Scouting activities.  Are you a Scouter?  I've been involved for most of my life. As a kid in Arizona, I was in the Desert Trails Council.  I think it has been taken over by the San Diego Council.  As an adult in California, I was in the Los Angeles Area Council, San Gabriel Valley Council, and California Inland Empire Council.  I was not very active in Scouting while I was living in Brazil.  In Costa Rica I work with the committee of the Scout Group 10 of Santo Domingo de Heredia.

I understand there is a scout group at the Hogar de Trisker, about 20 minutes out of Boquete on the way into David.  I tried several times to contact them via Facebook but with negative results.  I had hoped to present an international flag to them.  I know a Scouter in David and another in Panama City.  Within two-three months, I expect to be living in the Boquete area, and I would like to continue my envolvement, of course.
