Well, Waze does run on Android too if that helps. As for privacy, I just read their analysis, and it doesn't scare me nearly as much as it does them. For one thing, the major privacy leak is linking to Facebook or something such. However, if you use Facebook, you have already kissed off your privacy, in much more dangerous ways. Personally, I don't care a hoot who knows I am bopping around Panama in a car. Since I'm not shipping drugs or any such thing, I can't imagine why anyone would ever care. As for the police using Waze against you, I suppose if you were involved in causing a serious accident, they might be interested in your speed history but I think the admissibility of that is questionable. For myself, contrary to my "reckless youth" I generally drive within shooting distance of the speed limit.So... your milage may vary. For me the knowledge of where the cops are has transformed what used to be a tense and stressful trip to Panama City into an actual pleasure. I will never drive without it. By the way, the records of where you went are available to you as well, in your Waze account. It's great to be able to retrace your steps after a trip, put in places of interest etc. The utility of Waze is just emerging as the system fills out and grows.Let's face it, our so-called privacy is melting away like an ice-cream cake in a car wash. Think Facebook is benign? Other than their early funders being DARPA for the CIA, and considering their policy of selling your personal information is far more extensive and potentially intrusive than Waze, in the scheme of things, this is a very useful service that doesn't worry me much.

We got a speeding ticket in thre San Felix area speed trap zone. Got back home and looked up what you wrote about WAZE. Unfortunately we don't have an iPad nor iPhone...so that eliminates the option anyway....BUT, I found this which to me is a point to ponder:
Conclusion
Great as Waze may be at serving relevant, real-time, useful traffic information, the app is a privacy nightmare. It’s simply too easy to reveal too much about yourself, not to mention all the data Waze might share about you without your explicit knowledge. In fact, after reading the company’s terms and privacy policy, I immediately deleted the app, and will never use it again. If you don’t care about your every move being tracked, and the possibility that many details of your life could be leaked to anyone who wants to find them out, then, by all means, use Waze. Otherwise, I’d get rid of it as soon as possible, and find another GPS service that doesn’t play fast and loose with your data.

Anyway...on the way back home we just drafted behind two other cars in front of us in hopes we could escape as the fellow did behind us when we got our ticket. Of course no cops were out...LOL
