Sorry to take so long to get back to you. My wife and I have been in Shreveport and will be for another 2 weeks. We have not been able to find a place in Boquete. It is difficult not being there and seeing what you are renting for three months. We have decided to stay in David and look around from there. If we find a place to rent in or near Bouquete we will take it. We have a friend in David who can help us and give a place to stay for a couple of weeks while we look for another place. Our friend was telling me the indians there would like some one to come for medical clinics. I don't know what the attitude fof the Panama government is for that sort of thing. I will look into this when we get there. It is interesting about you previous lot in San Juan Del Sur. That area now is owned by Pelican Eyes and the lots are very expensive. It has turned into a beautiful resort.

We look forward to meeting you and Laura in Panama.

Went to the beach without money and had total stranger buy lunch for me and my wife.I had a great time just drivin around the country. Dont speak a word of Spanish but would stop and chat with the locals and they were kind enough not to laugh too hard. Just go and enjoy.

I approached the local dental society and the president made an appeal and circulated the list of needed dental supplies at their January meeting listing me as the contact person and not ONE reply. I was disappointed as I know the clinic will be since they knew I was trying to help. I'm looking forward to volunteering opportunities in Panama. Speaking of SJ del S, I bought a small lot there a few years ago. Just up the hill and over into the poor area past the hotel Isabella. Just a postage stamp and view of the ocean; but I've since sold it 'cause I just couldn't see myself living in that heat. We're spoiled living in Asheville. I hear you about oil prices. I'm on a Navy retirement plus Social Security and part of the attraction is the possibility of living cheaper for 4-5 months while having a great country to explore. Who knows by the time we figure in airfare costs if this is feasible. We're still going down in Nov for a look. When will you be there? I sent an email to Gwen I think it was (from Nova Scotia and in the horse group) who said she is going to look for a place between David and Boquete. That sounds like a good idea to me. Maybe the prices will be cheaper and the weather still cool enough (and maybe not so much rain). Look forward to staying in touch. Jim
