thanks Roger for the great tips on snakes, and Panama in general. Your weather in Michigan is probably similar to what it is here in the northern UK. I don't think I can stand another winter in northern Europe. Panama sounds wonderful.

Thanks Jim. It's good to know there's another IT here who cares enough to want to share their expertise. However, believe it or not, I've only had 2 responses to providing a public class for gringos.

Do you speak Spanish? One problem here is that the only resusci-annies are owned by the government - the bomberos in Boquete (fire dept) or Health Ministry in David; they are very uncooperative about loaning them - especially for public training.

I promised to train SINAPROC here but have been too busy to do so, especially alone. Let's meet sometime and see what we can work out - call me at 6672-8070.

Roger- I'm new to Boquete and am a Medic/First Aid Instructor-Trainer. I was wondering if I can help with training the volunteers? Or did I miss that?

Thank you very much for understanding me. And Yes, that is what panama lacks in it's education. I would of love to have graduated in Panama! Here we hava a law that states "no child should be left behind" I would love to have the Panamanian people with that same policys in Panama. I'm a believer that education is the key factor, in getting people education on a very important subject. I believe in talking to people to as many people as I can. We both can do this.

I see a lot of problems with the Panamanian schools vs American schools. I lived here in Chiriqui Panama at the age of fifthteen and went to a school called Culture Highschool. Supposbly that was an all American school. English was taught in all subjects except spanish. That's what the school director told my father and family. Well, that's not what they taught when I joined that school. I didn't know how to write in spanish. I can speak it and read it. That wasn't the problem. The pproblem was the writting. It's much harder to write in spanish. That school absolutly sucked! And I ended up quiting highschool. They degraded the girls form a higher education. Boys were taught higher education then the girls. Especually in Gym. Where all the girls had to wear skirts in Gym. I also have a disability that made learning really hard for me. In the United States, we have recourses for children who are slow at learning. In Panama you have to be at speed with everyone else. If your not your left behind like I was. That's why I perfure my daughter to go to an all American school. Then the Panamanian. The Balboa highschool is perfect. An olympic size pool. And they don't degrade the girls. And all have the opportunity for a higher education. So that Is what I have to say about the schools in Panama. And yes I would like to help you out in that. I think it's great what you are doing. We need more people like you in Panama.

This training is for the government emergency services, however if there is enough interest I might be persuaded to provide similar training for the public. Why don't you see what you can drum up.

Please post when you will be doing this presentation. With my ignorance of the local snakes I am a in real need of knowledge.
