Commercial renters caution

Another friend of mine has fallen to the appalling local practise of allowing a business to start up in a particular location then once all the hard slog has been done, ie the set-up,decor,marketing etc..the landlord then simply refuses to extend the lease or worse, increases the rent to a burdensome level so the leasee is forced out.The landlord then is free to put in a cousin/friend etc to run a similar, knock off place.Just a word to those thinking of renting, get as much of it as you can in…See More

As I see it  Boquete is not Third World at all.  This sleepy little village is home to the sweetest people anywhere and though not everyone is wealthy, not everyone is poor either.  They are rich in culture and family structure so that in many ways it is better here than in the USA.  Things are done differently and some people from the states are treated different because they complain all the time and trying to make Panama like the USA.  I see Panama as the USA in the fifties only with cell phones.

Thanks Dianne for the kind encouraging words of help. Where is the Tuesday morning meeting held. We certanly plan on attending.

I like the term "ratbag" and think it must be sad to have that kind of outlook in life. One might as well be happy and make the best of it with a smile.

Anna and i are so looking forward to being back in Boquete and hopefully meeting most of the people on this forum.

Again Thanks

Hi Dianne....I just bought your Boquete Handbook and cannot wait to read it. I am chronicling our move to Boquete in my blog "ThirdWorldWife". Can I put your link on my blog? Please send the url to robyncole@thirdworldwife.com.  In return, would you be willing to put my blog on your link along with the others you have? Thanks in advance,

Hola Dianne:

Espero que te encuentres muy bien en ese clima tan maravilloso que tiene Boquete. Los envidio mucho. ;-)

No. We dont have met yet and of course I will be very glad to meet you very soon. I have to admit, very sadly and with some shame, that I dont travel to much in my own country so frequent as I should. Some of the most beautiful places I have heard that are in Panama I have been advised by..... guess who? Ex-pats!!! Funny, isnt it? Last time I travel to Chiriqui and Boquete was about 10 years ago. My excuse is......well my job. I am representing for Central America and Panama several US manufacturers and have to travel those markets and also USA that leave me no room for traveling inside Panama.

I will have more spare time at the end of the year. Somewhere between december and february 2011. I will be very pleased to travel Boquete and meet you all.

Thanks for considering my person interesting and intelligent. Now I am blushed ;-). I have worked in marketing and sales for so many years and that makes me like persons. I have also done some coaching job with salespeople, engineers and other profesionals of the construction business. I like help people. Let's keep in touch. I will be interested to know what are the most interesting themes the community would like to hear about.

Finally. I sincerely want to thank you for loving this small little country, that it is not perfect but we could make the difference for good. It is your home now so you are considered panamanian.

Gracias por tu nota y espero que pases un feliz dia.

Hey, thanks! Yelling. :) Always could use some tough girls around here. I'll try to make it to the next meeting. These babies are pretty dependent on me this time of year, so it's a bit hard to escape the stables. You're more than welcome to come on over and hang with the carrot smacking moochers. They love to be brushed and ridden. I have them completely spoiled, and admit it. I hope everything is going well for you. See you soon!
