It is not a swimming beach because of the under current. There is a nice resort hotel condo-complex there called Las Olas. I go there and use their pool and hotel facilities for a $10 day pass. The facilities and restaurant are upscale and it is a nice place. Other than that, the nearest beach (not black sand) is at Las Lajas, which is about 45 miles east of David, off the the Pan American Highway. This beach is nice and swimmable, but not much facilities there, except for a motel type Hotel Las Lajas, with a decent restaurant. But if you are willing to drive 3 hours to Almiranti, about 100 miles from Boquete, you will be a water taxi ride from Bocas del Toro, with its calm blue-green waters, like Key West in Florida, and many nice beaches and inexpensive accommodations.
