Nice to hear from you Dave. I plan on being in Boquete the weekend of August 15th for 3 days. It will be my first trip to Boquete and I am really looking forward to it. I will be looking at business opportunities there as I plan to move to Panama to be with my Fiancee. The heat and traffic of Panama City really gets to me, so I hope to be able to do something in Boquete to earn my keep. Take care and I hope to stay in touch with you. Richard

It looks like we have a lot in common, Dave, and I look forward to meeting you some day. The world is shrinking every year and while there is much good in the world there is also much that is bad. A positive outlook and a determination to live a responsible life makes everything more meaningful.

I've never been to Prague. My neighbour is from the Czech Republic and travels there several times a year on business. His father lives at the outskirts of Prague.

The beer's on me when we meet in Boquete.

Hitler, and others like him, needed to be stopped long before they were in a position to cause the deaths of millions of Germans, Jews, and the allies who ultimately brought Hitler down. The problem is that people like to follow and hate to take responsibility for their own lives.. They delegate these responsibilities to idiots who then use the opportunity to ram through their personal political or ideological agenda and then when, no surprise, everything falls apart, these same people vow to never again repeat those errors. A generation later, the cycle begins anew. Hitler's escapades cost me two uncles and two brothers.

Hitler's scapegoats were the Jews. America's current scapegoats are the capitalists and the 'rich.' The solution to anything has never been to deride, castigate, or blame someone else but rather to take responsibility for one's own life and family and stop delegating away those responsibilities.

I agree with you that we are in for more of the same nonsense. That is one very good reason to have a refuge like Panama on standby.

Wow. That was quite the trip to see your friend and his family. Many Americans came to Canada to escape the draft in those days, like your friend's family, and I met a few of them. Interestingly, I was discussing conscription with my teenage son over breakfast Saturday morning. There are things worth fighting for and times when fighting is the only solution. The problem is we delegate the decisions as to when and where to fight our 'leaders' in Ottawa or Washington, or wherever, and their decisions, right or wrong, get us or our relatives killed.

Thanks for the comments, Dave. Yes, my family was German but both parents actually grew up in predominantly German communities in Poland. There is some speculation that my mother's family's surname was originally Schmigel and that somewhere in their history they added the 'ski' to fit in with the general populace.

Dave, We may be relocating to Boquete but concerned about the reported problems in transporting our dog back & forth to the US. Do you have any insight on this. Thanks, Gary & Suzy Bennett

Dave.....I am the Bill you met at Olgas. Nice to hear from you. I don't go there much any more because of the construction noise. Most of the gringos go to the Park Cafe (behind the public market). Come join us some morning, anytime after 7am.

Warmest regards,
