Hi Dan,
We moved back to Canada, and are now living in the Gulf Islands. When we entered Panama we drove over the border and no one asked us a single question and that was also the case at both borders both coming in and leaving. However, we did have all the documentation just in case but it was a royal pain as we had to do it in San Jose, and took 3 days in Costa Rica. If you have time do it all from your home country, it will be much easier.
All the best.
Marise.

Thanks for your reply! We would plan to come for an extended stay. My mom needs oxygen at ngiht and I am not sure how to plan for that. Also my boys are interested in coming so we would be a party of five. Makes for larger transportation necessary. The reason we are interested in Boquete region is the cooler climate. And from what I see and read the area is incredibly beautiful. Part of the draw is ease of language and although my mom and I are seasoned travelers (lived in Africa for 4 years) my boys are not. I think with some similarly cultured people (expats) this would make the transition a bit easier for them. Thanks again. I will be in contact. K
Just look new to this site. Saw you are from Colorado. I live in Durango, but am considering a move to Boquete. Any suggestions about making the big move? My mom and I are looking at Boquete and plan a visit sometime in Feb. 2010.
