I'd like to get some money to a friend in need in David - I've struck out with Palpal and Facebook (neither will transfer to Panama). Wiring could be a possibility, but it's quite expensive and we've been told it could be up to 5 days before the funds would be available. There's several Apps to use to transfer money in the US (Zelle, Venmo etc) but none seem to want to play with other countries or Panama specifically. I can't be the first person trying to send money from a US bank to a Panamanian. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks!

UPDATE: WesternUnion still closed in Boquete (August 2020). In DOLEGA there is an ePago office with WesternUnion to send and receive. They are at the Delta gas station, at the RapiFoods store. They are open from 8am to 6pm (Tel: 730-6956)
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I had never heard of Remitly, but it turned out the be the cheapest and most effiecient way to get money from the US to Panama!

A few days ago, I received with my US PayPal account a payment from people in Panama City with a Panama PayPal account. I don't know if it also works the other way.
Recently the Western Union office in Boquete was closed, but I have not checked in the past few days.
Also, it's about a half-hour drive to David.
MoneyGram is also an alternative to Western Unioin.
For banks, your only option is Wire Transfer.
Western Union is operiating in David at all the Mas Me Dan locations.
