The Embassy usually has a community outreach here about twice a year, but the date isn't announced until a couple of weeks ahead. As Community Liaison Volunteer (formerly Warden) I announce their coming just as soon as I know here, in News Boquete, on CL, and on two local Facebook forums. But Art is right. If you simply need to have your passport renewed, the easiest way is to send it by DHL courieer via Mailboxes, Etc. You can receive Embassy messages directly by enrolling in the STEP program, instructions for which are on the U.S. Embassy Panama website.
I just renewed mine by mailing it to the American Embassy in Panama City mailboxes Etc took care of it for me , Arturo was an incredible help. It took 2 weeks even during the holidays.
