Having trouble resetting my home security system after replacing the backup battery

and my neighbor is having problems trouble shooting his home security system.

I used to know a guy whose name was Ernesto from David but I lost his number.

if its a DSC, Paradox or Honeywell system, changing the battery and power disconnection will trigger a [loss of time] fault code. 

entering in a new time/date willl make that error disappear. You can google this to find the appropriate instructions. You will need your master code in all probability.

If your replacement battery is identical to your old battery I would suggest the following.  Power down your whole system meaning unhook your battery and unplug your transformer.  Let your system set for 3-5 minutes.  When powering up your system connect your battery first + to + , - to -.  Then plug in your transformer.  Your system should come back to life.  Follow the same sequence for your friend who is having trouble resetting their system,
