Is there anybody out there who shipped their vehicle from the U.S. to Manzanilla, Colon, Panama? We have read a few stories of horrible experiences. Are they the exceptions? We have a little BMW convertible we would like to have here in Boquete. It would not be our primary car, we bought a car here. But, it would be fun to have the little convertible here. Are we asking for mucho problemos?

I shipped my SUV from a roll on/roll off in Port Canaveral, Fl to Manzanillo a few years ago. About $700 for the shipping and the taxes ended up being about 22%, it was a vehicle I bought new, paid a lot for it in Canada and knew I would never spend that much again.
If you have a good customs broker (mine gave me an 'Audante') to get through the process at the port in Colon, its not that bad...
