I grew up in New Zealand, eating strawberry guavas and tree tomatoes. We are going to move to Boquete, and I'm interested in growing both of these plants so i can pig out on both. Thing is , are the plants for both of these species available for sale in Boquete? And if not, has anyone seen them for sale anywhere in Panama? Also has anyone tried to bring plants into Panama? Is there a process or is that a big no-no? thanks, Barbara

If you're looking for Strawberry Guavas, you're in luck. I have 3 big trees full of fruit ready to ripen soon. Yes, you can grow it here. My trees are almost 9 years old. I have a table at the Tuesday Market "Finca Feliz". Come look me up.
BTW, you can bring seeds in usually no problem.

Good to hear you’re joining us here in Boquete.
Importation of plant matter and their derivatives is generally prohibited.
Please ignore the poor manners of the old grouch shouting about PENALTIES.

DO YOU KNOW THE PENALTY FOR BRINGING IN SEEDS?
You cannot bring any plants and seeds into Panamá without an import permit. This will be quite a job.Go to the central fruit and vedgetable market. You have to speak Spanish.
