I hope that this will be a place where people can learn about and discuss climate science and climate news without interruption from contrarians.  The focus will be on Panama and Latin America, but not limited to that region.

As the founder and owner of this group, I will attempt to be fair, and share my knowledge regarding anthropogenic climate science and Global Warming and Climate change. (AGW/CC).

  • Hola - Is this group active? I'm visiting Boquete with the idea of spending more time here in the future and would love to connect with some environmentalists while I'm here this week. Muchas gracias!
  • Are you kidding Walter? Might be more a proof of changing customs and convention. A puritan would say - of morals.
  • darn, didn't get link to work.  ok how do I do that?

  • I am a bit awkward working with computers.  see the beautiful following post.  I thought that this was amazing and wanted to share it.  It did raise some questions that I am curious about, such as why CO2 was more prevalent in the northern hemisphere, and CO in the southern hemisphere.  I also wondered about the detoxification ( or transformations, dissassociations or chemical transmogrifications of COin the atmosphere.  anyone know if the CO is ever removed from the air once we put it there?

anyway, this is a great illustration of the importance of trees.

  • Thank you for doing this David. Though I do not have your knowledge - I deeply respect and love nature and animals. I try to live respectful and conscious everyday. I believe that wherever we live we can make a change - in giving good example and talk to people. Even if we get lots of nasty remarks, a few will get the message and that is the seed. I believe in this seeds and in and giving good example.
  • Thanks to those who have joined the group so far.

I am heading out to the terrace in a few minutes to play with some wood on my lathe, and hope to finish some new pieces for tomorrow's Tuesday Market at the BCP Center.

I am retired and do not work or have a job - but woodturning is my primary hobby, and working with the gorgeous and challenging woods of Panama is a joy.  What I bought as "exotic tropical woods" at stores in California grows here, and some of the most beautiful wood I work with these days is from cut-up logs I found on the side of the road.

As Price Peterson, a local dairy rancher and coffee grower said to me recently, "David, you're having too much fun."

Back to AGW/CC - I will treat this group page like a learning and discussion center, and start from my end with some basic climate science in a couple of days.

Please feel free to post any questions - and lets try to keep it relevant and based on two main areas - the science behind global warming, and the concerns that you have about it's affects.   I will point out falsehoods and distortions on both sides - by those who deny the existence of AGW/CC, and those who over-hype it with statements and claims that are not supported by science and evidence.

  • I started this group to provide a forum to have civil discussions about climate science, climate change and global warming - without disruptions by contrarians.

Anyone can join this group, but contrarians will be deleted from the group if they insist on repeatedly posting debunked AGW/CC denialist misinformation and distorted science rather than participate in a civil manner and refuse to discuss climate and science in a rational manner.

They can start heir own denialist/contrarian group if they like.
