I'd rather answer you on "closed forum". The drive to Bocas is very beautiful - there's always something in bloom along the way. Recommend driving in the morning as chances of rain are less. Weather seems always to be different from the Chiriqui side, Bocas is more humid, but beautiful. The drive takes about 3 hours, there's only one route - from Alto Boquete you'll take the Caldera road, turn right past Montanas de caldera because that road is better and really a little faster than the "upper road". At the end turn left and you are on the only road to Bocas. There's a police checkpoint for visas, etc., in Hornito, at the top of Gualaca, so be sure to bring your legal ID. The road is one lane each way; traffic is usually not a problem but must watch for some potholes; also watch that drivers rounding curves are not in your lane. Sometimes rain and fog, but usually in the morning you can escape bad weather. A few caveats. We get to Almirante and park in Viquez parking lot ($4/day); then take the Taxi 25 water taxi to Bocas town. We have a boat there so we then continue our lives there. Hope this helps you. Any other questions you can email me at yknot142@yahoo.com Linda
