4-H'er meets Starlight

We welcomed Starlight to our lives last week, and she is adjusting very well. She does not trust humans, holding much contempt for us, in general.Hannah says, "hello" and shows her that humans are kind and gentle.Starlight was being used to work ranches with a very large man and a very heavy saddle. Her feet had some major deviation issues and her back was sore. She is stand-offish, lacks trust and can be a bit nasty, trying to take advantage out of fear. We are working on all of this. Already she is able to be caught in corral, and her ears don't go back quite as much.Starlight was named after Rainbow Bright's horse, the white one with rainbow mane and tail. Starlight will be used for 4-H, and you will see her painted up with many colours, lots and lots.We are getting out of big horses and starting to breed ponies, downsizing them. Eventually we will have minis. It will take a very long time, but it's all fun in the process. No, we will not be selling our babies. They will stay with us and be used for our kids. Perhaps, for 4-H'ers, we will place some babies with them, but all 4-H horses stay here, with us... as this is where the action is!
