ORION! He is one mean mean horse. He, for some reason had it in for Gypsy, our rescue pony, and I was grabbing something to eat, finally, after a day out in hot sun.. break from THEIR (horses) work, when I heard screaming and yelling for me, and knew I had to get out there ASAP! Orion had bashed Gypsy into the Powder River Panel type gate, hard, and then, not happy with that, T-boned her, launching her up and over non climb wire mesh in ditch, on to outside of pasture, where she hit the ground rolling with momentum, knocked in to the ankle high rock wall and rolled over wall, coming to rest in grass. JERK!!She had elevated heart-beat, respiration, (understandable!) she was in shock and trembling, but the colour of membranes looked good, refill test was good. Her left eye has a haematoma and her gums on left side are bruised and slightly bleeding. Minutely. Palpation revealed no laceration, penetration, tearing, bleeding, no bones broken... she is hardy! Not a scratch on her, but I believe she will experience lactic muscle cramping tomorrow, as muscles and tendons are noticeably stressed. I'll give her something else tomorrow. I didn't feel anything broken, her ribs are strong and I hope her internals are all right.Fingers crossed and will check on her frequently tonight.JERK, ORION!!Orion will go to the round pen and be all by himself, as he is no longer able to get along with and play well with others. He knew what he did, was shamed, and admitted his shame, by not being able to look at me, racing in to his stall, running out in to paddock, avoiding food until I passed by his stall. I reamed him out, good! I think tomorrow he should be worked extra hard. JERK!!Gypsy pony is doing all right. Vitals are fine. Final check and all is well. Here she is, braced, rubbed down, given a preventative injection, babied and blanketed, as liniment can produce slight chills on muscles and it gets a bit chilly here in mountains by volcano. Her muscles have definitely been affected, good call, Mom! .. who found that on primary check, as we soothed her and calmed her down. They should respond well to liniment and rub. I did a little Tellington to her, last bit before night time. Poor little pony. Orion is now sorry. Just now.
