What Attracts you to Boquete?
Want to move to Boquete with my elderly mother. She is a textile artist and insatiable reader and birder. I am interested in outdoor activities, hot springs, hiking, gardening, stained glass, and learning more about COFFEE!

What is it that draws you to Boquete? If you were going to make a move here, I would suggest that you come down for a month or two and see how it is. Some people have come to Panama and after a few months decide to move back to the states. Come and visit for an extended stay to see how you like it.
As far as making the actual move, see if you can have someone with a car meet you at the airport. Taking the bus or one of the local airlines can be a nightmare when you are moving with all your luggage. Bus and local air (David to Panama city) is fine for going back for a visit. We flew on Frontier out of Denver into San Jose, Costa Rica. From there we rented a car with a driver and drove down to the border. We decided not to use a container, so we had 8 suitcases and a dog crate with us. You really need to have someone meet you at the border because you can not take the rental cars across. We had friends meet us there. Time and distance wise, going into Panama City or San Jose are about the same from Boquete. We like that Frontier flies direct, but then you are coming into 2 countries and have 2 airport security checks.
January 2010. I think there is a big flower festival near that time, or just into February.
Boquete can have it's American prices, since there are a lot of Americans, Canadians and Europeans there. We are building a home but not in the Boquete area, so I am not so familiar with the local details. Let me know if you have any specific questions. I will help if I can.
