I thought I'd write this in English as I have a few key people to get this information to and those I have discussed my project with already are VERY pumped to say the least.

So, what’s the story? I am about to launch a Panama web portal over the next few weeks. There's NOTHING like it around, and finally there'll be a central hub for English speaking people , locals and visitors alike, to go to for any and ALL information about Panama. This will be all the how, what, when & where…crucial information for visitors, information for migrants, personal blogs and podcasts and webinars by attorneys, a blog by the Mayor of Boquete (waiting to hear from him) including all his social media, contributions by other selected key community leaders…we’re talking an events calendar as well, pertinent info about churches and schools, community outreach programs and initiatives, a comprehensive sections dedicated to the small businesses, tours and services in our Chiriquí community etc etc.

Our portal will initially be focussing on Boquete, but since our domain name includes Panama as a whole, we will be covering other regions and Panama City as a whole in time to come.

We’re going to search engine optimize the living daylights out of this portal, and fortunately this is something I have had great success with over the last 20years !

Certain sections on our portal will be reserved for selected community projects and businesses and will be sponsored. Places like DogCamp Boquete will be one of them, to name but one. Other businesses will be charged a small fee to have themselves and their products represented…and we’re not just talking about a big image of your menu, if you’re a restaurant. We’ll make it look nice and presentable…and good complimentary addition to perhaps your existing website, if you have one.

We’ll probably also have online shopping / ordering for selected businesses with online payment options and all of the rest…the possibilities are endless ! We’ll be working out the finer details for that as we go along.

This will be a GREAT place for SME’s and places like restaurants to be featured, especially for those who want a PROPER showcase stage to promote their local businesses across the country for that matter. Depending on your business, there’s no real need to limit your exposure to just Chiriqui for instance, if you get my meaning?

Look, we’ve seen a few local attempts at community portals…even app’s and what have you, and as an online professional with 20years design and coding experience myself, there’s not really much to choose from, we all know that. Moving here as a family, thinking myself pretty resourceful at the same time, it was quite a mission to just get correct and reliable, unbiased and un-opinionated advice and information about various aspects. Look, most folks really mean well…don’t get me wrong, but filtering through information getting to the real meat was quite an exercise to say the least.

I own a successful 15K Facebook Community group called the St Francis Bay Official Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/stfrancisbay/. We’ve lived there about 10years before leavings South Africa for Thailand and SE Asia and the group is the only one of it’s kind that matters in the region. I have a few key moderators, so it’s a very well-run project for many years now.

This new local project will very much be a hub that you can be proud to be on. We’ll have decent layout and design, good graphics…all the important stuff that makes something stand out from the rest out there…it’s just going to be great.

So, if you have a business…ANY business really…and you’re interested in coming on board with our project, please let me know. I don’t have specific rates or anything as of yet, but I can assure you we’ll be sure to make it affordable and reasonable for everyone.

My current online business is in the international wealth management recruitment industry. I never ever meet my clients face to face as they’re all over the world, unless I happen to be in the same city my candidates happen to be in. For this project, ideally, I’d like to meet and sit down with all interested parties personally and see if there is room for collaboration and to what extent. However, with this COVID-19 story we’re somewhat limited to what we can do, BUT it would be great for you guys to get back to me with an initial expression of interest and we can perhaps see how to best go from there? I’ve worked remotely for years, so the concept is not new to us.

I fully understand that we’re all facing challenges with this lockdowns around the world, money is in short supply, even in my own business I have candidates stuck in various countries who can get cracking with their jobs and assignments, so I fully understand.

However, as an ex-international / offshore investment adviser I can just say that we have to plan ahead as this too shall pass. As the old adage goes, those who fail to plan, plan to fail…right, and we can’t start planning only when things return to normal. Let’s get ahead of this curve, pardon the pun !

So, business owners…attorneys, banks, immigration agents, real estate folks, restaurants and eateries, bakeries, youth groups, churches, schools, clubs, B & B’s, small hotels…anybody who wants in on the action, please let me know.

This portal will be the “Boquete Yellow Pages” for a lack of a better description. Do you want be found, stand out from competitors perhaps, or get more traffic apart from just passers by? Well, then be sure to be listed and we’ll make sure you’re FOUND as this will be the GO-TO place online more than any FaceBook page among the million others out there. Look, word of mouth is GREAT and will always be there, but there’s nothing more great for local businesses than when people arrive here with a detailed and vetted list of “must-have’s” or “must-see’s” and/or “must do’s” and YOU are on that list.
