  • Jim , if we sailed we encountered situations - if there we would have had a weapon we would have been killed.
  • Ok understood and agreed . I do karate.
  • What I said was no one should criticize you for seeking a better world but accept that your perception of reality may not be functional. The mere threat of a capable defense has been proven to be affective. In simple terms big guys rarely get mugged, assertive women get raped less, sometimes a good threat deters attack.
  • Jim I want to,understand you. Please put it in other words. Who is criticizing whome?
  • Marion, it is not justifiable to criticize someone who seeks a rational, sane, humane, and logical world. But it is also not rational to accept their perspective as reality.
  • Thank you for telling me this. It's tragic , but it confirms the fact - too many guns around . and it is really doubtful that - if she would have had a gun - she would have the guts , the possibility to fire at those ruthless gang at first.
Fact is - forever and forever - guns kill people. Peace is not accomplished with guns!

Another thought is - Karma - . your cousin has a better Karma without thinking of Guns. If the philosophie of Karma does not fits you - "we shall not kill. "
  • My first cousin, a Mother of 5 children (one died of leukemia at 6 years old) was a supervisor at a Sear's warehouse in N.J.. She caught a couple of young men who worked there robbing television sets. She reported them to her management who asked her to testify at their trial. She agreed to testify. Before the trial she was followed home from work at night by the accused and shot in her head by a small caliber gun (a 22) right in her driveway and died five days later. She probably knew she was being followed home, it was late at night in a rural section of N.J. I can't help but wonder if she had a gun and knew who to use it, her assassins would have thought twice about approaching her. Guns don't kill people, bad people kill people!!!
