DEC NEWS Happy Holidays! Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Happy Kwanza, and Best Greetings of the Season Our last clinic of 2019 was on October 27. In mid-November, we got together to re-hash the clinics and start planning and strategizing how we can go forward better and smarter. Just last week, we gathered and did inventory and cleaned the boxes for the various stations and started a computerized list so we could keep a perpetual inventory and not run out of needed supplies. Five years ago, we held our first clinic in our new facility, the Ruby McKenzie Clinic, January 25, 2015. On February 15, 2015, we dedicated the new building and honored all those who made it all possible. And then in June of 2005, fifteen years ago, the first ever spay/neuter clinic in Boquete was held. People always ask when they see the number of animals that we work on at the clinics – what will you do when you run out of animals? So far, that is not an issue and sadly, will not be in the foreseeable future. Better get one quick, they will be all gone by the end of the year. The town loves them – and they are beautiful – but your dog or cat is most likely terrified. Keep these things in mind for the next few weeks: https://gallery.mailchimp.com/8b5604e3832ff9d0228d3c3a4/images/f2191ac3-f06d-4a6e-856c-77083067ce9a.jpg" alt="" width="400" align="middle" /> Make sure your dog or cat always has somewhere to hide if he or she wants to and has access to this place at all times; this could be under some furniture or in a closet. Walk dogs during daylight hours and keep cats and dogs indoors when the fireworks are likely to be set off. At nightfall close the windows and curtains and put on music or the TV to mask and muffle the sound of fireworks. Make sure your cat or dog is always kept in a safe and secure environment and can’t escape if there’s a sudden noise. Keep yourself calm so no feeling of anxiety will pass on to your pet.
