Don Weenie, blatant self-promoter who runs PanamaGuide.com, that our very own Johnny Sunshine is so fond of linking to without bothering to comment on the stories, has announced that starting Dec. 1, he's charging $20/year for the privilege of accessing his drivel. J.S. may subscribe and continue posting his links to Weenie's stories but, unless you, too, have a subscription to the site you'll be out of luck and unable to read what makes Johnnie's leg tingle..

Seems like critics come from people who don't read him anyway - or at least pretend not to - so why the fuss ?
Why should it be a scandal for someone to want to get paid for what he offers ?
You don't want it ? You don't need it ? great, don't buy it.
I don't share some of his opinion, but he has proven most effective in some case, especially when expats got into trouble, disappeared, or stuff like that.
I won't pay because i read the local paper, but his work has some value.
agreed....I dont agree with many here on.ning either...still read it....if you dont see both sides, you get blinded..same goes with discussions...they should be discussions, not just bad mouthing

This is wonderful news! The Tico times started charging about 5 years ago and after 50 years of successful publishing they died this year. RIP DW!
