Today, I had the pleasure of attending the opening ceremonies for the brand new Boquete Centro Medico branch of Hospital Cooperativo in David. The ceremony was attended by an audience of friends and staff members of Hospital Cooperativo. There were brief remarks, followed by a ribbon-cutting and a tour of the medical center facility. The tour was followed by a delicious lunch.
We are fortunate to have this new facility right in downtown Boquete, offering medical attention by doctors from the hospital staff.
The medical center is located on the street on the east side of the library and about fifty meters to the north. It is located on the east side of the street in a building beside a lavanderia. The paint is a yellow and green theme, the same as the hospital building in David. There is a banner above the entrance with a list of operating hours.

Hospital Cooperativo is the only non-profit hospital in Panama, and it offers a cooperative medical discount plan which includes discounts from its already-low prices. For payments of $10 per month (or more conveniently, $120 per year) members receive discounts on various services and doctor appointments. You may inquire about and sign up for the plan at the new medical center. Member privileges apply in both the Boquete Medical Center and at Hospital Cooperativo in David.
Two doctors who speak English will be at the medical center---one Monday through Friday and possibly Sundays and another on Monday, Thursday, Friday and possibly Saturday each week. Schedules are still being finalized.
Hospital Cooperativo in David is on the same street as Hospital Chiriqui and three blocks to the east. There are twenty doctors of various specialties with offices at the hospital. If you need the services of a specialist, you can receive a referral here in Boquete and possibly even make appointments through the medical center here.
