My wife and I are still planning a move to the Boquete area in about 3 plus years. We know it's early, but we have a dog we plan to bring. I should say he's a member of the family, so we're not about to leave him behind.
Our question is, if when we make visits outside the country, is there a place to board our little guy?
We would like to think we can have our pensionada visa done in the allotted time, but if we have to leave the country for a short time, we don't want to go through the process of getting him back in again. It seems it's more difficult to bring him in than us. But, he's worth it.

Almost 4 years ago we came from the Caribbean and brought 4 dogs with us. No problem at Tocumen. Now we have 3 dogs and our kind neighbours taking care of them while away for a couple of days.
During those 3 years I highly recommend to learn proper Spanish.
Thanks for all the good info. We're visiting next April, and hoping to get an idea what micro-climate we like best.
Alto Dorado, Las Brisas or Jardines de Boquete (all in Alto Boquete). We live in Jardines de Boquete. Volcancito ( we lived there before) is nice but quite isolated and often difficult to get a taxi or a bus if your car is under repair. No supermarkets nearby.
I have personally used Kristine for my 2 girls, for more than 4 years, when I have to travel. I think they like it better there than at home now: http://www.howlingsuccess.com/contact-us.html
Also, the great people, Javier and Magaly, at Dog Camp Boquete, also board dogs: https://www.facebook.com/dogcampboquete/
You may even consider house/dog sitters when you travel, I have used some for like $20 a day, and you house and animals stay at home an get looked after.
You will have lots of options when you travel for your dog.
Ryan at Junglia de Panama (i think thats the name) can get your dog certified as a "Service" dog and then he can travel with you on the airplane at no extra cost (per him).
Of course, I don't know the particulars of each country you would travel to. Questions like how big, noisy, plays well with others, might make it possible to leave with friends (we were one of those babysitters).
Enjoy your adventure.
