Hi Everyone,
I'm Bob and with my wife Joyce we are Brits planning to emigrate from South Africa to Panama to live in the Boquete area. With our background we prefer to look at living in a security, fenced development and, at the moment, are tending towards Boquete Canyon Village as our preference. However we would appreciate any objective, unbiased opinions about life in any of the others similar such as Los Molinos, Boquete Brisas, etc. We are not golfers so do not want to pay the premium for a golf estate that we would never use.
We look forward to hearing from anyone who could assist and maybe make a few friends along the way.
All the best,
Bob & Joyce

We are looking for a self contained, self catering accomodation for myself, wife and two pet cats in the Boquete area for about 3 weeks starting about March 12. We will need it while we complete our search for a house. If anyone has, or knows of one they could recommend please would you let me know on bobhopkin1@gmail.com. Thanks

In our opinion the best location is to rent or buy on the Alto Boquete side of town. This week we expect 200,000 visitors to the Coffee and Flower fair. If you rent or buy on the Bajo Boquete side of town at times it will be almost impossible to get in or out to town to go to David.
Ha ha ha, I just got back home from driving down pretty crowded below!
To Judy Sacco, Thanks for the advice about Panamonte, but it seems to be much higher priced than other estates and out of our price range. Thanks anyway.
Bob
The 3 places you mentioned are hotter than Boquete due to a lower elevation. If you like it cooler, Panamonte Estates is a gated community in Boquete, and it doesn't have a golf course.
Hi guys,
My home in Alto Jaramillo just went up for sale through Casa Solutiion realty in Boquete. I am a retired American and chose NOT to live in a gated community setting for a number of reasons. Initially I thought BCV was nice, but it does have disadvantages. I invite you to see my home, I did quite a bit of work here over the last 18 months, it's 4.5 miles to downtown Boquete and has a nice microclimate usually 60 degrees lowest at night, and has never been over 80F duing the day so AC is not necesssary. Very secure property with a cartaker who lives here full time.

Hi Graciela,
Thank you for your comments. The only thing that gave us concern about security is that we noticed that the majority of houses outside of gated communities, have heavy burglar bars on all their windows which we wouldn't like.
Bob
Houses are robbed often in panama that do not have bars on doors or windows. Usually when owners or tenants are not at home.I was robbed two times in a gated community with razor wire and NO bars on the doors. Usually these are "inside" jobs. Usually, juveniles doing the robbing for adults. It is difficult to prosecute juveniles here in Panama. There is a reason for the bars and wire on the houses or they WOULD NOT be installed. This is a reality. Some people just don't believe bars on doors and windows are needed. They are in total denial.
Hola Bob & Joyce: with all due respect, the village of Boquete and surrounding areas are very safe. You don't need to llive in a gated community. It is good to live and understand the culture and eventually learn the Spanish language and the best way of doing that is to live in a multi-culture (Panamanian & Foreigner) community. You will find life is much more interesting if you intergrate into the local community. We live in barriada Santa Lucia, multi-culture community and I have yet to year of a crime in our barriada and only two minutes out of town. Beautiful views of the Volcan Baru and surounding mountains and there is a private country club (no golf) with a swimming pool and the fee for that club is $20. per month. Come, rent, look around, it is much differfent herre than South Africa. You may be surprised!!!
Hello Bob and Happy New Year. I live in Los Molinos and have a website where you can find out more about it in detail and also check a property that I have for sale if you're interested. The web address is https://www.PanamaHomeForSale.info. Let me know if you need further information.
Best regards,
Bill
