We are so proud to announce that our beautiful Weimeraner Sadie has delivered a litter of perfect, healthy, and beautiful Weimeraner puppies.
For those of you unfamiliar with this breed of dog let me tell you about them. Known as the “Grey Ghost” Weimeraner’s have blue eyes when born. Their fur is silver, bluish, or sometimes brown in color and because they have to grow into it for the first week of their life they look striped. The “silver” or grey color is the color of choice for a Weimeraner as the other colors developed as a condition of cross breeding. This breed originated in Germany and is a cross between the Mastiff and the Vizsla. The Weimeraner has been said to have been around for over 300 years.
This breed was originally bred for the nobility. The idea was to produce a noble looking dog capable for hunting. This breed is a pointer. Known for their intelligence and ability to sneak up on their prey the Weimeraner made a great hunting dog. Today, although still used for hunting the Weimeraner has been adapted into modern culture as a family dog and utility dog. Great around children and as a companion the Weimeraner is extremely loyal. They are very protective of their master and also double as an amazing watch/guard dog. The Weimeraner is not an aggressive breed and is quite easy to train. Their bark (even the females) resonate a sound of intimidation warning all possible intruders to stay away.
Weimeraners were originally bred to be around humans. Therefore they were never kept in kennels which was unusual for hunting dogs at that time. Because of this Weimeraners today are not kennel dogs. If kept in kennels the Weimeraner quickly deteriorates.
The Weimeraner loves to play, hike, take long walks. No walk is too far for the Weimeraner. A properly trained Weimeraner will never leave his/her master’s side. This breed has acquired the nickname the “Velcro Dog” because of the bond that the Weimeraner develops with his Master. We have owned the Weimeraner for the last 15 years and in our humble opinion it’s the perfect breed of dog.
Our Sadie’s puppies all weighed 1 pound +/- 1 ounce at birth. There were no runts and no stillborns.
The females can grow to weigh 55 – 70 pounds and the males 70 – 80 pounds. A perfect guard dog.
We have 4 puppies to sell (2 males and 2 females) and they will be available in 7 weeks (They are 1 week old as of 3/17/2013). The puppies will be delivered AKC ready following the standards of this breed. Tails clipped, dew claws removed, wormed, and first round of vaccinations received.
