Considering that the construction of the water treatment system and sewerage network in Boquete, Chiriqui, is not the most appropriate for about 20 thousand inhabitants of this tourist region, its residents asked to temporarily suspend the project until they know all the details.
The environmentalist Carmencita Tedman said the request to suspend work is because they have knowledge that two large water tanks that will be chlorinated will be installed in the Caldera river, so they fear it could be destroyed with a flood.
She added that the pipes used for the sewage system are six inches. In her view, they should be 24 inches because "one should think several years."
"We request to suspend work by Conades and wait for an explanation of what they will do because President Juan Carlos Varela speaks of water treatment plant for Boquete, not about water tanks," said spokeswoman residents.
Eliseo Miranda, representative of the company responsible for the construction of the work, said that design is 98% because they are still acquiring land for the second water treatment plant in Alto Boquete.
He explained that the project consists of a health system and a sewerage network, treatment plant wastewater, improved catchments of two existing sources Ladrillos and Fincas Las Mercedes and Valle Escondido and two water treatment plants or water treatment system
"We are trying to teachpeople to understand that a plant is designed according to the water to be treated and as Boquete has good water does not require a settler because it does not have a muddy water," he said.
Last January President Juan Carlos Varela gave the order to proceed to Aguas Accidental Association Boquete for "Study, Design, Construction, Maintenance and Operation" system of water treatment and sewerage network in the district of Boquete, work amounting to $ 22.5 million.
On a separate note the vice governor of Chiriqui and Alcalde have both agreed it is wise to stop until all questions and concerns of the citizens have been answered and addressed.

24" pipes in lieu of 6" definitely, 6" would be courting disaster in my opinion.
They had preliminary plans, now they are going back to the drawing board to look at the option of 24" pipes vs the 6" pipes. Boquete is rapidly growing and that must be taken into consideration
Surely there was a design plan submitted at the time the contract was awarded.
