'STAGGERING': 680,000 MUSLIMS TO U.S. UNDER OBAMA
Green-card totals over 5 years enough to populate D.C.
Published: 7 hours agoThe U.S. issued 680,000 green cards to migrants from Muslim-majority countries in the five-year period encompassing 2009 through 2013, according to Department of Homeland Security data.
This Islamic “invasion,” as some are calling it, occurred on the Obama administration’s watch, with plans for 10,000 Syrian Muslims grabbing much of the headlines. But the actual number is many times higher with a refugee program that is rooted in the 1980s and has the support of both parties.
The U.S. has brought in more than 1.5 million Muslims through the refugee program since the passage of the Refugee Act of 1980. They have been coming from Islamic states with active jihadist movements such as Somalia, Bangladesh, Burma, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Bosnia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
To put this five-year tally – 680,000 – in context, it surpasses the total population of Washington, D.C., which is 660,000.

Time to close this discussion.
And then it flourished into the topic(in my mind) of why people can get away with saying the dumbest things and no-one raises a red flag, especially if that person has the potential to become the most powerful leader in the free world.
And among the twists and turns, PC came up, how people used to talk back in the good old days…
My grandfather used to say…
“If you don’t have something nice to say, at least don’t sound like an idiot.”
“Before you open your trap, think about what your grandmother would say.”
“Be a man, be honest and don’t be an a#@hole.”
So, there was a political correctness to conversations, it’s called being civil.
Which leads me to when people with certain hateful prejudices preach ignorance, intolerance and for lack of a better word, stupidity…I suppose that people who value logic, reason and common sense are supposed to sit back and idly stand by?
That’s exactly what dark hearted individuals want…indifference and apathy.
Let me give you an example…
Henry Ford (Yea that Ford) had in his mind the idea that Jews were evil, really evil.
In fact, his anti-Semitic publications (he was the only American praised in Hitler’s Mein Kampf) led to a generation of powerful public figures to oppose allowing Jews to immigrate to America as they were being persecuted (IE slavery, torture, gassing, burning, etc).
As you seeing the parallel yet?
And if you study history, you can draw another parallel…The National Socialist party (Nazis) used the turmoil in Germany to advance their agenda, and they played on the fear and prejudices of the Germans.
The Jews were out to get them, they were subhuman miscreant creatures, the bogeyman that hid in the shadows waiting for their chance to collapse German society.
Of course, none of this was true, but yet, they pushed this enough that the fear and prejudice helped catapult the Nazis into power and the Jews (and the world) paid a horrific price.
It is ridiculous to take that time/place/circumstances and overlay onto the USA now, but, if you think about it…
In closing, going back to my experiment, have my words caused controversy, have they upset people, made blood pressure rise, made someone angry, made people feel insulted or offended??? I judge this a success and proves my point.
So, if I said something to piss anyone off, sorry about that…I was just showing you that words do matter.
I LOVE your posts. The deeper exploration of the issues. The exchange of ideas and thoughts. And you don't get personal. You present, you don't pound. Words used to be considered magic they are so powerful. They do matter. We're all on this beautiful planet together. We ought to be able to communicate with each other. Happy to do so with you. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Love you Birdy. I really don't know how we got so off track. If I were REALLY smart I'd keep my passionate opinions to myself.
But it's hard when I read crazy talk (not talking about you). I gotta do better. Problem is I'm a political animal and that just makes it very difficult.
God Bless
I'm cool with being cool if you're cool with it :D. The most important part is getting to the place of understanding, common, mutual, whatever it is (having a hard time wording this and my brain is tired.) You don't have to keep your opinions to yourself, I don't want that. Just leave some space for others' opinions, including Patrick and anyone else it get's heated with. We're all a work in progress. It's the journey. I've got nothing but love for you Kelvin. Thank you for the God bless. God bless you too. Have a peaceful night.
In the words of David Byrne, I say to the both of you- "stop making sense."
As for Patrick he appears to "plagiarise" what I've recently been saying repeatedly to anyone it applies to- stop clogging up the forum and website with two and three word "posts".
Apparently there is something about me he actually respects. His words-
"Clog up this post with meaningless words"
Patrik,
you really have some problems with some realities here:
Some basic definitons:
CONSTITUTION (wiki to make it simple) : A constitution is a set of fundamental principles or established precedents according to which a state or other organization is governed. It is the laws that a State must comply with.
Believe it or not, but a European tourist visiting NY is protected by the US Constitution, because the main point of the constitution is to state what the Governement CAN and CANNOT DO.
The same way, the US Legislation is expected to be observed not only by US citizens, but by every person who is within the US border.
Where the hell did you get this idea that laws and consitution only concern US citizens?
You also wrote:
I haven't read anywhere where Mr. Trump's plans exclude U.S. Citizens (and that pertains to the U.S. Constitution) any Citizens from practicing their religion, speech, assembly, or petition.
Maybe you should read more sources: Here is another one:
Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said Trump’s proposed ban would apply to “everybody”, including Muslims seeking immigration visas as well as tourists seeking to enter the country. Another Trump staffer confirmed that the ban would also apply to American Muslims who were currently overseas – presumably including members of the military and diplomatic service. “This does not apply to people living in the country,” Trump said in an interview on Fox News, “but we have to be vigilant.”
So here we have, refugees of course, but also Tourists ( does that includes Saudi princes and businessmen?), that is what "everybody" suggests. Now granted, Muslims living in the USA seems to be exampted, until of course they would decide to have a trip abroad.
In Panama there is such a "sentence" called "PAIS POR CARCEL"...
In addition, you are surely aware that the USA has signed binding international laws protecting something called Human rights, aren't you?
So of course, "freedom of speech" permits Donald to say any bullshit he wants, and even to promise things to his partisans that he would not be allowed to hold. So he has the right to be a public liar, there is the Constitution that gives him this right... the same Constitution he wants to challenge...logical.
There is no one here who is not shocked and revolted by what ISIS is doing, or by terrorists attacks in Generals, like the ones who stroke Paris, but the main issue is : Is it the right choice to become criminals (that renoucing to our laws) to fight criminals and madmen?
Is it wise to renounce to every sacred rights which protect the vast majority of honnest people (Americans like Muslims) because of the actions of a tiny few?
I don't know if you realize that you are promoting the suspension of the Consititution - a decision only inspired by emotions (fear and hatred) - that is renouncing to the very core of the protection granted to ALL the population. A protection that the so efficient "War against terror" has already weakened dramatically in most part of the world. But you seems to say, its is not enough! Until some new government would apply this very same logic you are promoting to another category of people - US citizens more or less related to philosophy inspiring the many other US mass shooters...
Now one wants to ask any visitor what is his religion, the next day the question would be for "whom did you vote?" with special legislation depending on your answers...
At a time when humanity seems - let's be optimistic here - to want to be united against the threats posed by climate change...you know " What planet will we be leaving to a children", it is about time to address the question "What kind of Society we want to leave to those children.
It's obvious that the Left and the Right will never agree. Post as many negative comments about me as you like. Personal attacks again me, doesn't matter. Personal attacks again others who agree with me, doesn't matter. Stray off subject, it doesn't matter. Post as many pictures or videos to support your side of the augment, it doesn't matter. Clog up this post with meaningless words, doesn't matter. If you are not a U,S, Citizen, it doesn't matter.
WHAT MATTERS?
What matters is that the United States Citizens will decide what matters. Like it or Lump it. Americans are tired of the same old do nothing politicians who get elected to office and do nothing. There is only one Candidate running who is not beholden to Special Interest Groups. Pacs (Political Action Committees), Unions. Corporations, the Media (including Fox News), Outside U.S. Interest Groups, Military/Industrial Complex etc... and he doesn't allude to the Political Correctness principal. I don't have to mention his name, he will be the next President.
and if you naysayers have anything else to say: it doesn't matter!!!
I thought about your prediction as I read about the meltdown of the far-right Front National party in the recent elections in France. Despite the tragedy in Paris and the subsequent fear mongering, the public overwhelmingly chose centrists over extremists.
Although my voting has usually reflected my conservative principles, I would be forced to vote for the lesser of two evils if your candidate were to become the GOP nominee. He will not be the next President of the USA.
Are we winning? I hope so.
