I saw where the leadership here on Ning decided to "close" the thread on War Damn Eagle. Well I assume that is their prerogative, albeit I have seen other threads with less community interest go on and on. So in order to make this of Boquete interest, I would like to poll the "Boquete community" to see how many would be interested in getting together for a little party and watch the BCS Championship between FSU and Auburn? Is that enough Boquete content to warrant the thread, Fran? All fans of college football would be invited to the party, to include our Tide fan. WDE

GO NOLES :):)
It is in Idaho, I think it's a Simplot plot and Buffalo is playing some other undistinguished team, San Diego State. So expect Goodbye San Diego to be there!

My second Alma Mater will be going Cajun,
Arizona will play in the AdvoCare V100 Bowl in Shreveport, La., against Boston College on Dec. 31 at 10:30 a.m. MST. Rumor is that there will be a big party in Panama with lot's of Fireworks to celebrate.
I doubt it will be televised here and I doubt even more that I will be paying much attention to either event.
We are interested! Any day we can watch FSU lose, is a great day. Our beloved UF is having yet another "re-building year" so our season is over (thankfully) We would love to watch Auburn win.
Unless they are playing Florida State, I also root for Florida. Two great teams from my home state.
If a person follows 'Latest Activity" as I do, you see everything anyway, Discussion and Blog posts, Event announcements, Notifications, Buy and Sell, etc.
Another way to handle this might be to make Blog posts about a favorite team or a Championship game and folks can cheer or jeer in response. Usually stays visible on the front page just as long, if not longer, than a Forum discussion. Go Leafs Go!
Send me an invite. :)
My alma Mater, just was invited to the Potato Bowl, no kidding.
I was also surprised to see the topic closed in the way it was. The expat community has the diversity and talent to do all of the good work we read about everyday, and each of us brings the spirit and camaraderie of our prior life experiences. The graduates of many fine schools are represented in Boquete. There is nothing wrong with bringing our spirit into town. You made a mistake on this one Fran.
I don't need to see a new group formed to tell Chuck, Jim, and whoever else, that I will be proud to join them IN BOQUETE to watch the championship game or any other game between schools that have sent their graduates to this community.
I agree, Woody. There are lots of sports topics on Ning: tennis, golf, fishing, etc. Some folks wanting to get together to watch football in Boquete is equally legitimate, in my view. Those who aren't interested in these topics can just skip over them. But I think it's Boquete-related because it's a proposed social gathering in Boquete.
