Anyone have experience with the availability and cost of blood thinners? I take Xarelto now and have used Pradaxa as well, spent quite a few years with warfarin but got tired of the monthly tests. Any input is appreciated.

Aspirin, Turmeric, Ginger, Cinnamon, Cayenne Peppers and Vitamin E are alternatives.
But how much D. Wayne? It's pretty important to know that.
Exactly Judy. That was the question The cost of prescription medication was a shock to us. Since we always had a group plan or Medicare in the US, we really didn’t know how much medication costs!
People have offered solutions - I am not familiar with what you need to take but we had “sticker shock” when we went into a pharmacy even though a prescription was not required here.
Thanks Bonnie, my doctor made me very well aware of potential side effects when I started Xarelto. I have been taking them for almost 3 years now with no adverse effects. If we worried about everything that lawyers wanted to sue someone for on U.S. television we would not get anything else done or be able to live life. I do appreciate your concern and am sorry about what you and your husband went through.
Thank you all for your help, I may have to look at going back to warfarin and hope there is a clinic in town that can check my INR once a month. If anyone knows about that let me know. Thanks, Bryan
Bryan, were you able to locate a clinic that can check your INR once a month?
HI Ann, we are not living there full time yet, still waiting for our house in Colorado to sell. So I have not had a chance to look for someone but my doctor here said he would write me a prescription for a machine to do self checks and my insurance would probably pay for most of it. I hope that pans out but if not it's not like it would be as big of a pain to go get it checked when I am retired vs. living the hectic working life here. If you have any suggestions I would be very happy to hear them. Thanks, Bryan
This works wonders for some people, but I would urge those who start Xarelto to closely monitor how they feel as it can cause severe internal bleeding in some people. It was prescribed for my husband here in Panama to treat some heart issues. He developed severe anemia and was so weak he couldn't walk, resulting in a seven-day hospital stay and multiple blood transfusions.
If you have a way of getting a US Rx for either one and have some way of importing it
Xarelto 84 tabs 20 mg. $160 Bayer Trukey
Pradaxa 180 caps. 150 mg. Boehringer-Ingelheim Turkey
