I was in a restaurant today, and saw President Varela in the news, talking in Boquete. Couldn’t hear, but the blurbs said something about suspending tourism in Boquete because of the black water?? Anyone know anything about his visit yesterday or today? I looked in the newspapers, but couldn’t find anything......

I heard that the Wilson Bridge route into town was going to be pathed, does anyone know if that is a fact and part of the same contract or just wishful thinking?
Here is a clue:
the Centennial Bridge was inaugurated on schedule on 15 August 2004, although it was opened for traffic on 2 September 2005, when the new highways leading to it were finished. Mireya got the credit.
Perhaps the November date is planned for a 10 year celebration of the destruction of the bridge?

Certainly the visit was a fotoop for the coming elections. Every party is trying to take credit for projects finished on their watch, regardless of when the project began.

Definetely you missunderstood what he was saying about Boquete and the tourism, he basically said that the labors of the streets will be finish by the 27th of November on this year or before.
I was in front of him and even shake hands with him, he in fact had to intevine into this since the company who started the job, wasn't capable to move fast and runned out of budget, also the new bridge by Panamonte will be done by then so Boquete will be ready for the high season offering the best.
