Car rental

Thanks to all for the PC hotel suggestions.  I have one more question, this one about renting a car.  We will fly in to Panama City.  Is it best to take the bus from PC to Boquete, or should we rent a car in PC and drive to Boquete (since we'll need a car anyway to get around later in the week)?  Thanks for any advice you can give me!

If you plan to rent the car and return it in Panama City and if you are comfortable driving from P.C. to Boquete, then I would rent there. On the other hand, if you plan to rent in P.C. and return it to David I would take the bus or fly. There is a large surcharge for renting a car in P.C. and turning it in at a different location. Value car rental is good place to rent a car in Boquete and is probably cheaper than renting in P.C. Also they all speak English. The number is 507.6747.4275.

I'd prefer to take bus since we'll travel at night. My eyes aren't what they used to be! Then taxi from David to Boquete. Is there a car rental company located in Boquete? Thanks!

There are three car rental companies in Boquete. The two best are Cowboy Dave (I don't have his number) and Value car rental at 507.6747.4275l.

We drove from Panama to Boquete the first time we came here 6-7 years ago. Driving in Panama City is NOT recommended. Since then we have always flown Air Panama to David and rented a car from Thrifty or Budget at the airport and driven to Boquete. The car return is simple at the David airport as well. Taxis in Panama City are the way to go, IMO.

It's a nice drive once you get out of the city, but unless you plan to drive back, take the bus. You will have to pay a drop fee of $180 for a one way rental. The bus is nice, cheap and easy if you get on the better of the two companies.

cheaper to rent in Boquete/David, but i have always rented at PC airport, for a couple of reasons...travel at my own pace ,do side trips , like to El Valle , some beaches along the way...not a freezing bus...you can stop where you want, to eat etc...convenient....but will cost more
