Does anybody out there have up to date info on what Costa Rican Immigration is requiring to enter the country now? Will I need to show an ongoing ticket out of the country? Am ready to check out of Panama now in compliance with el gobiernos new reglas.......Go spend my money in Nicaragua........haha....

Be nice to the Panamanian Immigrations Officials or you may be one of these folks

Just to let you all know, it was an eazy out and in to C.R. a few daze ago......Didnt ask me for anything, just gave me an automatic 90 and on my merry way.......The Pana migracion guy asked me how long I was planning on staying out and I told him AT LEAST 30 days, maybe longer, and that saved him the trouble of having to make it clear..........San Juan del Sur in Nicaragua is charming, but more expensive than you might imagine.......Youre still not outside of Costa Rica yet in that regard.........
Entering Costa Rica is easy, not like comming back to Panama. The requirements are to have 100 USD for each month of your stay and a return ticket out of Costa Rica. Doesn´t have to be a flight ticket. It can be a bus. I was asked several times for this so I just bought the ticket from San Jose to David just a minute walk from the window. It costs only 21 USD. It is a piece of cake dealing with Costa Rican immigration officials. It is a nightmare and makes me throw up to deal with panamanian immigration officers at times.
Hercules, have you noticed anyone have any problems entering Panama at Paso Canoas lately? Is there a slow down in the number of people around the border area?
I just crossed yesterday and Panama and Costa Rica didn't ask for a thing. It was very fast.
There were not very many people on either side. On the Panama side there were 5 or 6 people and on the Costa Rica side there were 3 people, in and out. The last time that I crossed there were many migrants everywhere. This time I saw none. Last may when I crossed there were about 40 national Police guarding the border in riot gear.
Very quiet and normal this time.
Let's see what happens when I cross in 30 days.
A few weeks ago someone I know crossed into Costa Rica. They said at the window in Panama they were told that Costa Rica was going to ask for a ticket to your home country. When they got to the Costa Rica window they weren't asked for anything.
Last time I went was August and they didn't ask for anything. I was driving my truck but they didn't know that at the passport window. They did check our bags when I pulled around for the vehicle inspection.
Yes, i have a residency but when you check into CR you use your passport. Mine is a US passport. The residency doesn't come into play until you check back into Panama. Yes they did change the law a couple of years ago and now you have to have residency to take your car out of the country by road.
Steve, do you have residency? I ask because I was under the impression that you couldn't take a vehicle registered in Panama out of the country unless you were a resident.
