Have been to Paso a couple of times for shopping and never had an entry or exit question let alone problem. You can get really good prices on booze and beer. Like a third to half off Boquete prices.
It would be nice to have a "detailed" border crossing for those wishing to go to Santa Fe or other locations in Costa Rica. But hey, we can want (in English too would be nice).
My wife and I crossed in January with 2 moto's and a trailer (small one behind my bike), but I had some guy with a badge or patch or neckless ID (maybe that one) help us then charged us money. I thought he was official. I am so gullible. But after all, we had been on the road 3 weeks and had crossed 6 borders already and it had just turned night and my wife was in pain (shoulder injury from picking up a full propane bottle before we left that was re-aggravated), and, and, and, we made it home in Boquete by midnight. So I really don't remember what happened, other than, here we are.
I would like to go visit friends over there, with the moto, or the car, but I am told you are required to "request" to take your vehicle out of the country if it is registered here.
It looks like, if you want to go further than the border, by bus, they just parade you around into different lines and you provide paperwork and money and patience, and eventually you are allowed to proceed (or detained, or sent back, or, or, or). They also seem to respect their elders at least somewhat.
You are not paraded around in lines at the border. What happens is this-----lines are formed instead of mass chaos. They are doing there job just as any country. People expecting to just jump back and forth without proper channels are ill informed on customs of other countries. There used to be a man on the Panama side that sold little small stickers and he said attach them to your passport. WRONG. Never attach anything to a passport. He was charging $1. There are scams on every border in the world. There is an EXIT tax leaving Costa Rica. It is perfectly LEGAL.
Stamp out. Stamp in. Stamp out. Stamp in. Have proper papers if traveling in your personal car or moto. Really simple. Don't know the rules------go to immigration in David and get a DETAILED copy. Be carefull of not staying out of Panama long enough every six months.
It depends on how far over the border you travel. I walk all over Paso Canoas and cross over into Costa Rica to shop. I do not know if the countries have an agreement but I've never been checked on either side.I never stamp out of Panama or into Costa Rica. I saved $75 on a watch in City Mall.

Yes, the watch works just fine. Not a knock off either. Maybe you should check out the named brand items. City Mall in David has the same owners and has quality products.

One does not have to check in or out with the customs only for shopping.

Does the watch still work?
