I emailed Mike's Grill about the cost of their NFL brunch. They didn't answer. Does anyone here know? Does anyone know the cost of mushrooms there? Does Boquete have a well stocked liquor store? Wines and liqueurs? If not, David?
Thanks in advance. As retired financial executives, Nadezhda and I are more than a little detail oriented. :-)

A couple of points, if I may, Michael. I base my statements on having lived in Boquete for eight years.
First of all, websites are seldom up to date here. You cannot depend on the menu, prices, or hours to be correct. I am faced with this problem repeatedly. Similarly, much of the information in travel books is out of date before the books are printed.
Nor can you trust everything you read on the Internet. I have read things online about Boquete that I know to be patently false. Other information is misleading, such as the population figures and number of restaurants you cite. The accuracy of information is affected not only by commercial interests that paint everything in the best possible light, but also by personal blogs and articles posted by people who have lived here a short period of time, are still in the "honeymoon" phase of life in Boquete, or simply do not have the experience necessary to write authoritatively about the town.
You clearly have done some homework, but I have to think you have become satisfied with less than honest information if you have moved forward to the point of posing questions relating to the availability of brunch and mushrooms. Believe me, there are more important issues you need to research for honest answers. Hardly a week goes by that I don't meet a newbie who fell for the hype and disinformation online and now find they cannot cope with the water problems, electricity outages, microclimates, government bureaucracy, poor customer service, etc. that are realities of life here. I don't believe you will know if Boquete may be right for you and your wife until you explore these issues fully, i.e., look carefully at the source of the information, ask questions of people who actually have lived here a while, develop skepticism about promotional information, and, of course, come for an extended visit before putting down roots.
Indeed, there are, Walter. However, as a very experienced reader of Trip Advisor reviews, Boquete is a star. It can happen to anyone, unfortunately. In the restaurant business, you rely on a lot of vendors. I'm sure that if we come we will eat around and then settle on a half a dozen favorites.
I hope that each and every soul participating in this particular conversation finds a plethora of personal reasons to be thankful for their own circumstances, especially during the upcoming week.
In that vein, I'm grateful for the continual oddities that present themselves here on our little *ning -- where the essence and stuff of life itself always hangs in the balance.

7-eleven.
Oh, yes, you are a pleasant ambassador for the Boquete expat community. I am, indeed, reconsidering Boquete. Not because of the restaurants, but because of the high concentration of jerks. So, this post has been quite informative.
Thank you Penny. We will definitely give it a try if we come.
Actually, Keith, I won't miss that. One of the things that attracted me to Boquete is the enormous selection of restaurants. I go down to 30 of 52 on Trip Advisor and people were still raving about the food. With or without a brunch I do believe we will be very happy with the fare.
