No trying to be a smarty pants either but you are incorrect. 20 year SPCA Inspector - neuter is actually what is proper for both sexes meaning removing the reproductive organs. ;)
Typing on a tablet is not easy, but sometimes for me it is the only way. Yesterday...I was hiding in the spare room standing up typing, while 3 teenage boys were arguing about bringing the cat, 'Finley" to get neutered. At the same time our two 7 year olds were asking "what does the cats "balls" have to do with making kittens?" Oh and my husband telling me of all the "things" I needed to do that day. During this entire time, "Finley" was hiding, not coming when called, as my husband was sure he was aware of his upcoming fate and would not be found in time for the clinic. So a typo was the least of my worries yesterday morning..ha ha.
Oh and Dottie..."Finley" is sure acting as if the surgery was performed with a shovel. As he and his older cat brother "Meko" were up talking all night, not leaving each others side. I feel a bit psychic as I think Meko was meowing " yes loosing your ____s really stinks, little buddy!" and meow " I heard frozen peas on the area helps."
Sorry Keith I will try to teach them the word neutered, ha ha.
All in all, we are so grateful for all the help we have received from so many animal loving people. Including the help for living with a blind dog. Thank you all so very much! Amanda will be back in June to continue her volunteer work at the clinic, she really loves all the people at the clinic and the animals.
Anyway, the directions were timely. I always look for the house with all the puppies at the entry to the road!
And no matter what we call it, this clinic is a heartwarming experience, something I always look forward to even if it exhausts me utterly. Can hardly imagine a more priceless or community enhancing gift to this region, than a volunteer driven, low fee solution to the animal fecundity problem. Wish we could "reproduce" it elsewhere.
Kudos to Amigos! And many more successful clinics like yesterday's.
I wholeheartedly agree, Louise. It's a wonderful community resource, the product of years of hard work by many, many volunteers. Kudos to Amigos de Animales indeed!
You excoriated Dottie for her "self righteous tone," which I didn't perceive; I found her post to be well-intentioned and clear. You suggested she take her suggestion off the forum and take it up with the writer privately. I wrote that putting it here educates more than one person.I understood you.
I disagree. And I think Dottie made her intention clear.
I have seen the term "spade" used for "spay" far many times, at least once in an AdA announcement. Lori's usage may have been an accident, but it's clear that some people just don't know the right word. This is a chance to educate them.

While we're at it, I believe the correct term for 'ball less' is neutered.
Sorry yes it is "spayed" auto type on my tablet put in the wrong word and we were rushing to make the clinic so I did not even notice, thank you. Funny our ball less wonder kitten would have preferred we were dealing with a "spade" or shovel then removing part of his anatomy.
Thanks to all the fabulous volunteers including the doctor that looked at our dogs eyes for free. Well done!
Driving south from Bajo Boquete towards David make the first right after Ivan Supermercado (Ivan's southern border on the opposite side of the road) and it's two blocks on your left.

Wow, a spade is a shovel.
