Just got back from a border crossing, and forgive me if I am repeating anyone's earlier comments, but Ricardo, owner of Hostel La Morenita was a God-send! Not only is he (and his wife) an excellent host - but his help with the actual border crossing was invaluable.
One more thing that had our overnight visit at La Morenita being a pleasant experience - they are animal lovers. Nine dogs - four birds (two parrots, two love birds) - four cats - and (our favorite) two squirrel monkeys made us feel surrounded by love. All were well behaved, and all were well taken care of.
I'm attaching pics of the monkeys - can't you just see the love in their eyes?

I would probably of loved this, but I'm allergic to cats. :o(
Does anyone have the actual phone number to Hostel La Morenita at the border crossing?
727-7380 or Rick's cell 6949-4955
Marie: If you refer to the monkeys as Mike & Ike - they will know that you have spoken to us via .ning
We named them that before we left, because we just didn't feel it was right that they didn't have names. I'm hoping that their names stick as I think Rick's wife was good with the idea.
And, let us know how it goes for you!
David is not on the border. This is on the Costa Rica side of the border crossing at Paso Canoa.
Hostal La Morenita website and contact info.
Rick just helped my husband with the border run - he's a real gem!! And we love the hostel.
Cannot say enough for Rick and his team. Made the border crossing so much easier. Plan on going back just for a visit. I have his contact information if any one needs it.
Marie:
We took the bus too. We called Rick, told him where we were at, and he was there in about 10 minutes. AND he was our "taxi" to the border crossing and back to his place as trips were needed. You have no worries!
